Well guys today was the big day! Fish and small CUC added, 2 baby ocellaris clowns, 1 baby neon dottyback, 3 trochus snails, 3 scarlet reef hermits, and 2 nassarius snails(all they had). Here's some pic' s enjoy!
Here's another update on the tank. It's now day 14 of the cycle and everything is going great and at a fast pace. Here are my parameters so far ammonia is 0ppm after peaking at ~1, nitrite is at ~2ppm after going off the chart, and nitrates are ~40ppm. No algae blooms have happened, only change...
Here is a day 7 update on the cycle. Ph 8.1, salinity 1.025sg, ammonia .5ppm, nitrite .25ppm. I have not started testing nitrates yet because I am waiting for nitrite levels to level out first. More to come!
Thanks, I am going to start testing ammonia tomorrow to see if the shrimp has started breaking down. It was just a regular jumbo I bought at the store raw and unseasoned.
Done and done, hopefully the cycle will get going pretty quick with the live sand and life rock that is supposedly spored with bacteria and I had a little stability left from another tank.
Yes keep adding ammonia if your nitrite is dropping now your getting close, it's strange that you have 0 nitrates though but I guess the pwc and plants could have processed it. Remember patience is key for this hobby.
Tank is filled! It's a bit cloudy but I have both wavemakers going so hopefully it will settle. Salinity is 1.025sg and I'm waiting for ph and temp to stabilize. So the guides I have read and your suggestions say to cycle with a raw shrimp, what size type do I get? Should I add some fish food...
