I've been dosing ferts with PPS pro for a week now (using the kit from green leaf aquariums) and my water had turned more and more cloudy this week. Am I doing something wrong? I'm dosing the recommended amount as specified on the green leaf website which is a ml per 10 gallons.

Yeah, I know, they're pretty old school. They came with the tank and I don't really have the money to replace the whole lighting setup right now. I'll get some more suitable bulbs for the smaller T5 I have to help out. Ok, good to know I need to get a bit more light in there, thanks.

Ok I got two 48" 40 watt T12 bulbs at 5000k. This is 80 watts over a 70g tank. I assume that counts as low light? Like I said before, I have a 3' T5 that could help out to get to medium light. How much more light could I take without needing CO2?

So I work all the time and have been leaving my lights on too long. Does anyone have a light timer they recommend? Preferably pretty cheap? It would be such a big help, thanks.

The smaller the tank the more difficult to maintain and in a 5g, I wouldn't recommend more than just some shrimp. Definitely cycle it as normal but because of how little water there is, you need to pay very close attention to the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite measurements, they build up quick! As...

Hi I have a 70g planted community tank and it's time to upgrade my lighting. Right now I just have the lights that came with it. There's a 10k Coralife and an actinic bulbs in there so I know I need some ones that are more appropriate for plants. I don't know what kind of bulbs they are...

Ok, interesting. What are the differences between the two? Are they different ferts or just a different want of measuring them? Why did you go with EI, what seemed easier about it?

I don't know if this is true but I asked something similar a while ago and was told that they have to be planted the correct way up, otherwise they won't sprout. I was told to keep them wrapped in a moist paper towel in a warm place until they sprouted and then plant them with the sprout end up...

Ugh, the Animal Kingdom USA in Carmel NY is no longer carrying *any* kind of fish. They upped their aquarium product stock though, so whatever. Really disappointing as they had a great selection and a lot of tanks. I don't know any other good places in my neck of Fairfield or Westchester counties.
