Good to know, cause I currently only have one power head to break the surface of water. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the info! I tested my water and everything tested out good, so I'm pretty sure that I'm leaving the lights on too long. Going to give the 3days lights out method a try and then lower the amount of time I keep the lights on.

So I have this purple stuff growing on live rock and I'm trying to figure out what it is. I've seen pics of corraline and cyano and in some pics they look the same. Can anyone help me identify this? It's on the live rock and sand. When I rub my finger over it it's slippery. If I rub with some...
You are absolutely right! Watching some of these videos I see that there are tons of places for the fish to hide and a lot of them appear that the fish know exactly where to dart back to when the camera gets to close. I initially was not planning to do coral for awhile because I thought I should...
Ok I moved the power head down some and more towards the middle and this is what I have currently. I also took the plastic parts of the hood off the back of the tank. Do you think this will be good enough for the proper gas exchange?

When putting the live rock in I tried to make some caves out of them.
I have never seen them actually go in them though so what might you suggest for hiding spots?
The heater... I guess this is where they decided to host? lol
At first I thought maybe it was to cold on other side of tank but no the temperature is fine on both sides. Sometimes they will swim to other side but always end up back near the heater.

Thx : ) and by decorations I meant the fake stuff like on deep blue professional website. I do eventually want to start taking on the real stuff but for now just trying to keep things a little more simple and get use to saltwater aquarium keeping.

My plan is to add 2 fish and 2 decorations every week. So if you have any recommendations on fish please feel free to share them with me. I really like combinations like the sand shifting goby and pistol shrimp.
