Ok guys I am going with 2 1/2 though 3 in the front and then up to four in the back. in the front I mean 2 1/2 to 3 in waves in the front and then slop it up in the back so I will have all diffent depths all over! Thankx guy! O how does my sand bed sound?

OK i really like this light Metal Halide Lighting: Marineland Marine Series Pro Lighting at Drs Foster and Smith seems to have the best of both worlds. It is a tad bit more then I wanted to spend though.

I know you said that the open tanks are the best but with the kids and all in the house somekind of cover would make me feel much better! Do you think that if the had lid them 2 15''x15'' and another set of smaller hole would allow enough gas extange? This lid would not be a complete enclouser.

OK so I found the overflow that I am going to use and a skimmer. Now I am thinking about lights? Since the top of my lid is alum I was going to ditch it and get a light bar but now that I know none of the water will ever hit the alum I think I am going to use it what do you all think good or bad...
