The canister has been on it for a while. The sump is newer. I just kept it on because I figured it was needed because it's what has the carbon and everything where the sump just has algaes and rock.

I was looking online for a new protein skimmer for my sump and found reef octopus biopellet reactors and media reactors. What are these used for? What kind of media do you put in them? Do you use them in place of a skimmer or with the skimmer? Are they a good thing to have?
I can't figure out how to edit my last reply.
Not to mention the store seems to have ich in half their tanks. So yea I like to treat preventatively. And I always will from now on. Because I've always bought fish that didn't look like they had ich and would put them in my display and somehow...
Well most people say treat as a preventative. Bcuz ich can be in the gills where you can't see it and same with worms in the anthias u can't see them until it's too late

I don't plan on adding another. I wasn't going to add another but my friend got me that one. I wanted to get a few and treat those few which is what I did. I started treatment when I had two anthias and the lemon peel angel and she got me that other anthias two weeks into my treatment. So go...
Yea I understand. A friend bought me the other anthias so had no choice. And I didn't start the treatment until I got the third fish and was ready to start the treatment so those three were on the same treatments. Should I do another dose of prazi for the third anthias added just to be safe or...
I have a question for any of you still looking at this thread. Once I got the sailfin and the others out of quarantine I started getting a few more. I got a lemon peel angel and I've had him for about a month and half. Have seen no ich on him since I got him. A couple days later I got a barletts...
Ok here's an update. Original ignitus anthias ended up dying. I could never get it to eat. The other ignitus has just recently started coming out of hiding. If I put food in the tank and left the room I'd peek around the corner and see him out eating. Now he's to the point where hell come out...
This new anthias will not come out! He has been sitting in one spot for three days! Unless he comes out in the middle of the night and somehow gets right back in the exact same spot he's not moving. I can see him and see he's still breathing but isn't he going to starve? What do I have to do to...
Well I'm still waiting on the new anthias to calm down. He's been hiding all day. Before I just turned the lights out I checked on him and he was breathing normal at least not fast because of being stressed. I tested my water today and nitrates and ammonia is still 0. I guess once he gets more...
Ok angel is acclimating to the 10 gallon. There was nothing in there but live rock so he will be the only fish. And I will do water changes frequently. Just going to leave him in there a few days until the new anthias calms down. Then I will put him back and maybe start treatment to get them...
Well they are usually honest with me about if they are eating. I didn't ask about the first anthias because from what I had read I didn't think I'd have a problem most things said they were easy. I think I'm going to temporarily move the angel to the 10 gallon. He's showing a little aggression...
