    What. Are. These.

They look like they might be amphipods. They're just too small in the pic to be sure. Google it and see if that's what they are. WYite

    ID!?!?!

Doesn't look like a peacock to me. Looks more like a Paralabidochromis spp., a male P. sp. "redfin piebald" or P. chromogynos possibly. It would fit right in with my P. chromogynos colony. I've been seein' both species on sale in the northern Colorado markets, so wouldn't surprise me at all if...

Male Melanochromis auratus. Looks like he's still transitioning into full dominant colors. WYite

    Your favorite new world cichlid

    Cupid cichlid, Biotodoma cupido. WYite

    Identification

Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus. Quite possibly internal parasites, as mentioned. Not knowing if the infection is due to microbes or larger parasites, I'd start with metronidazole as that should clobber gram positive bacteria or worms. WYite

    ID african cihlid female

The solid black stripe on the dorsal edged with white isn't typical of a kenyi. The typical kenyi also has 5-6, broader stripes than the fish in the pics, which has eight. I have seen kenyi with more, narrower stripes than typical, but rarely and those were seriously in-bred. The pattern...

    African peacock for $1500

I'd say the lemon jake for $1500 was bull. I've seen $250 or more for zebra plecos. Seen Asian aros into four digits, not that ya can have them legally in the U.S. Rapps had Iranian cichlids at $125@ for 1/2" fish a few years back, IIRC. Some of the deepwater marine fish go for crazy prices...

    What is this

Possibly a cichlid. My first thought from that silhouette was a sunfish of some sort, though. Ya really need a better pic for anything definite. WYite

H.R. 996: Invasive Fish and Wildlife Prevention Act

In 2008, H.R. 669: The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act was submitted to the House of Representatives, legislation that had it passed would have limited the number of species available to private citizens to a very few “approved” species. Other species would have immediately been...

Whats an easy egg-laying fish to breed?

Kribensis, convict cichlids, zebra danios, white cloud mountain minnows, pristella tetras and bronze cories (Corydoras aeneus). Zebra danios would be my suggestion for a peaceful fish that is easy to breed and with fry easy to raise. If ya wanna raise a bunch of fry, put the parents in a...

    Cichlids without eyes

I'll humbly submit that "he" looks more like a "she". :) I've never had a fish with no eyes, but have had numerous fish from different families with one eye that did fine. WYite

Spontaneous generation? Baby fish in new tank!

More than likely eggs from fish in your current tank. Pristellas or Pygmy cories I'd guess. The eggs transferred to the new tank in the java moss on the mopani. WYite

    Tang community setup guidance.

    C. leptosoma will be fine in a 4' tank. My breeding group is in a 55. A large male will average around 4.5", females are sittin' around 3" average. Nothing shorter though, despite their relatively small size. They are active fish. WYite

    Peacock with mbuna

Not all haps are tough enough to deal with mbuna, but this guy should be. They can be purty rambunctious. I've seen 'em with mbuna quite often over the years. WYite
