What are these green spots on my plant?

Thanks Rookie and BigJim! "You can spot treat it by injecting hydrogen peroxide near the BBA with a syringe." Will this harm the plants or the fish? How much and how often should I use the peroxide?

What are these green spots on my plant?

I am dosing with ferts, I have Phertz Root Tabs in the substrate, and I dose every few days with Flourish and Flourish Excel. I don't inject CO2 very often anymore (I was dosing with CO2 until about a month ago when I had a mishap with my homemade CO2 and ended up losing a few fish) so I am a...

What are these green spots on my plant?

Lately I've noticed green spots on my broad leaf plants I'm thinking it must be some shot of algae but it doesn't come off if I wipe it. I've also been getting hair algae on my plants too, could this be causing the green spots?

3D Background Attaching wood to the wall

I am building a 57 gallon tank and want to create the look of a river cove underneath a tree where the river has eroded away the bank enough to expose portions of the roots. I read some of the posts on building rock walls into tanks and I was thinking that I could do something similar with...

    Lighting ballast

So to build a T5 HO canopy light will I be able to find the supplies at my local Home Depot? Why is the HO ballast different, is it the pins or the amount of power they supply?

Potting Soil or Peat as Substrate

I have heard that peat can help keep the ph low and discus prefer low ph. I have city water and it tends to be on the low side anyways. 7.2 is the highest its been but I thought if I could maintain a ph of around 6.8 it would be a bit more healthy for the discus. Thanks again for all your...

Potting Soil or Peat as Substrate

Thanks Marconis, any thoughts on peat mixed in with the potting soil? What about rinsing the soil really well do you think that would help keep the tannins at bay along with the chemicals that leech out.

Potting Soil or Peat as Substrate

Thanks Big Jim, That will be a very helpful site when I'm setting up the tank. I am going to go slow with this tank and make it a project. I'm anticipating getting discus sometime in mid to late summer. I am going to shoot for the most realistic flooded Amazon basin aquascape that I can...

Potting Soil or Peat as Substrate

Hi All, I just got a 57 gallon tall tank and am planning on building a freshwater planted tank to house Discus fish. I was thinking that I could use organic potting soil mixed with peat as the substrate with possibly a thin layer of sand over top of that. I read a few of the other posts and...

Neon Tetras and Harlequin Rasboras Spawning

Thanks for the advice on making foodnfor the fry. Unfortunately I think I killed the eggs before they ever had a chance. I wanted to get a good photo of them so I adjusted my strongest light right over them and shortly after they turned solid white and then nothing... I later read that Tetras...
