1- I turn off my sponge filters, but i make sure not to let them dry out. And keep them off for as little as possible. 2- no idea. I use buckets. 3- I gravel vac only dead "zones" and half the tank. Alternate halves each water change. 4- yes but i don't gravel vac on those water changes...

Yes, but for me color is what I look at first then fins. A guppy with the most beautiful fins but bland colors doesn't impress people, unless you're one of us crazy fish nerds. Lol. My wife doesn't know nor care about fins, but if it looks pretty then she'll give them the time of day. Nate
