there's a fish spinal disease that is unfortunately fatal - Tuberculosis for fish I think? it does have treatment but by the sounds of it, you're a little late :( it is related to being inbred as well as other things, problem is probably most or all of them are infected. you can either start...
why are you getting a fish.... to go in the same tank... as fish it cannot be put with? i'm sorry but this confuses me :L
what you can do is buy dividers from aquarium websites such as Aquarium Dividers & Hatcheries - Aquarium Maintenance - Aquatics or similar, but they'll take a few days to...

this is the best way to tell, you can't judge by egg spots. my female has 8 or so!
platies are best kept in groups of 1male to 2 or more females, so it could be the males are more aggressive since they're competing. though you put a question mark, are you sure it's female and not a competing male? I can't see from the pics, but it should be dead easy to tell
Does anyone else have this issue? Trying to photograph one fish (in my case the holding Saulosi) and one or two other fish come up to you demanding selfies all the time?!
Like seriously
They have a problem
In the 50l, which is about 10gal, you have to be careful with what you're fitting in and what hiding spaces there are, but you should be able to manage 3-4 tiger barbs along with about 5 neons and the loach. this will be overcrowding and they will need bigger water changes, but it might work. If...
They're stunners, how big is the tank and how big do they all get? I have what I think is an l-083 gibbicep pleco that's now 9 odd inches, they're wonderful creatures!
Sometimes they eat their own eggs, not exactly sure why! Maybe duds, maybe they just don't know what to do.... hopefully the eggs you saved will be fine. keep us posted!
I always have a breeder box with a divider to save babies, to stop mummas doing exactly that! it's logical about birthing at night helping the survival rate, since they're harder to see (therefore eat) in the dark, but I found all my guppies preferred in the middle of the day to enjoy producing...
The love of my life, my 'wet dog' Oscar called Veyron :D
My stunning male zebra obliquidens :)
My female red zebra (the camera makes her paler than she is!) and my recently pregnant Soulosi female, and my Chailosi girly
I have more fish but these are my favourites!
There are certain heaters that run on a timer basis, but those can be more expensive. If you find the tank is a little colder than you need at night or during winter, I suggest having just a standard small heater that you run for that cold period until it's optimum temperature again. Like, I...
Yep, those are the parents! The obiquidens in the bottom photo is the only male in the tank, he has the most fantastic colouring. I mistook him for a female in the shop, but when I took him home and he became boss, he coloured up :D i'll check out the photos, thanks!
congrats! Mind if I see some pics? ;) i'm crazy about baby fish - I have raised soooo many fry batches, usually metraclima estherae when I used to have some! The just loved making babies!
what I am curious about is how these fry will turn out, since they're half Malawi and half Tangayika!
That sir was a paragraph from a true fish fanatic. And I must say, well done with raising that ocellaris, that's great how you rescued it!
please please put photos if/when you get the sting ray!!
It's just where the conditions in the previous tank haven't been up to scratch and the poor water quality has caused minor Hole In The Head/ Head and Lateral Line Erosion, simple enough to cause and simple enough to fix!
