I reckon carbon or purigen would be great to use, it's just the fact you have to replace so often and loose all that BB which is what stops everyone from using it! Yeah I would just get new decorations if I was you! I wouldn't risk it, or even just leave them till the tank is fully cycled then...

I've started looking into purigen and some people say it's easier to throw it away instead of bleaching it? I can get 100ml for $20 so would I go through that fast? I am actually considering it now but would it be bad to use during my fishless cycle since it's meant to keep Nitrates down?

My old filter has died so I've ordered a Fluval U3 internal filter and I was wondering what I should get to replace the Carbon Cartridges? I haven't seen it in person so I don't know what will fit in that section?

I've now ordered the Fluval U3 so I gotta wait 1-2 weeks for it to arrive, only then can I get this cycle started again :(
