Hey mattcham have you ever done a cold water euthanasia before? Just wondering because I did a crayfish once in -1deg Celsius salt water and it thrashed around for maybe 5 seconds vs instant movement stopping I've seen when people cook crabs and the like in boiling water.

Yeah boiling is defiantly the way to go if you have a big enough boiler.

I did mine geez 10 years ago probably now. I bleached it before I put it in then had to wait like a month or something for the bleach to gas out. Do a Internet search for driftwood bleach. I also boiled smaller pieces for 30mins or so and had no issues.

Don't give in!!! Cut resistant gloves are cheap. While you at the hardware get a oil stone to sand those sharp edges. Or the better option is find a ruined one for free.
