I have this leftover fluval chi aquarium and from what I know, Brevis keep a very small territory. That being said, I would like the input of the community. The dimensions of a fluval chi 5 gal. Are 12" x 10" x 10"

It really is a guessing game. I ended up grabbing three medium sized angels that I thought maybe could possibly be males. Guess we will see.

Sorry for all of the questions! You're a huge help though. Okay, so could I possibly go with four male angels to significantly reduce any possible aggression, or would that be unnecessary? I won't have any other inhabitants except for one bottom feeder. And yes, it's a 37 tall.

I like the idea of a gender specific tank sounds great. How will that work? Two would be great just to admire.

Hey since you guys are all here you might as well help me pick out a pair of angels! I would like to go with just a pair of angels and no other fish. Also - should I try emailing my local Petsmart or Petco to see if they will take my cichlids? They are the only fish stores around for me:(

Dimensions are 12"x30" 22" high. The problem is clearly with the species (and tank size). Do stores exchange fish? What other suggestions do you have? By the way yes the tank was cycled properly. I don't believe the problem is coming from parameters. Thank you so much for the reply

I have 37 gallon Mbuna tank -- I know it's not large enough. About a year ago I ordered 12 "compatible" assorted cichlids from livefishdirect.com and I believe I ended up receiving 11. I could tell right away there was an unbalance. I'm down to 6 cichlids. 5 males and 1 female. Not a good ratio...

In my opinion, since you have about 12 times the gallons for your filtration, you're good in that area.

Maybe just one bulldog pleco to lower the bioload a bit? And what's the GPH on those filters?

It will just be smelly for a while. Mine was awful. After three weeks I actually enjoy smelling my tank. It's fresh now :-)
