    Bubble tip anemone issues attaching

Hmm.. it seems very relentless lol. It gets me worried that I left it for a few hours and still no sign of attaching. It always flips itself upside down in the process which causes me to go in and flip it right side up. I suppose it has a death wish. It’s puzzling because it always attaches to...

    Bubble tip anemone issues attaching

I’ll just place him down and wait. He likes attaching to flat surfaces because he will always attach to the breeder box. I’ll give it a go again tonight. Thanks.

    Bubble tip anemone issues attaching

I picked up a green bubble tip anemone a few days ago and it’s been hell trying to get it to attach. Right now it’s in a breeder box to keep it from flying around the tank. I’ve shut the pumps and place it on areas of flat bare rock with crevices hoping it will take hold and grab deep into the...

    RODI water

Thanks for the input. Is it ok to add pure RODI water as a top off or should I add something to it?

    RODI water

Recently I purchased an RODI unit for my nano reef because of the overwhelming benefits I’ve heard. I want to make sure I’m using it correctly. After the water comes out of the unit is it safe to just add salt to get to the desired salinity and then add to my tank? Or do I have to remineralize...

Removing algae from in between corals

Recently I’ve been able to handle the algae in my nano reef except for areas that are hard for me to manually remove the algae from. Getting in between corals is difficult so should I attempt manual removal or add something that can get in between crevices and coral? If so what can I add? My...

    Algae removal

I’ve started to get some pretty bad algae in my reef. I’m still attempting to get rid of the hair algae I have and then I see this stuff. I’m about 80% sure this is cyano, it comes off in sheets. Only thing is it’s grey in color so maybe it’s something else, idk. Are there any decent products...

    Pederson anemone shrimp hosting mushroom

I’m interested in knowing if anyone else has had a similar experience with these shrimp hosting corals instead of anemones. I have a few rock flower anemone in my tank but my shrimp refuses to leave this mushroom. I think it’s kind of interesting because I’ve never seen anything host a mushroom...

    Brown algae

After coming back from reefapalooza I think I introduced some type of algae into my tank. I’ve had diatoms and cyano and this looks different from both but I could be mistaken. Any thoughts as to what it is and how to control it?

    Dinoflagellates?

You can see the strings slightly better in these pics

    Dinoflagellates?

Over the past three days I saw what I thought was brown jelly disease but I’m starting to think it looks more like dinoflagellates. Can anyone identify it and give me some pointers on how to get rid of it? There’s more near my lps but I can’t get a good pic of it. It’s brown and stringy...

    What coral is this?

I picked this up thinking this was a war coral but I’m not very good with identification. It actually seems a lot like a montipora. Any ideas?

    Bamboo shrimp disease

In the last week or so I’ve notice some kind of growth on the head of my bamboo shrimp. It seems to resemble black beard algae or something. I’m not familiar with all shrimp diseases so if any of you can identify this and what may have caused it that would be greatly appreciated.

That square shape leads me to believe its most likely a kissing gourami.

    20 gallon long aquascape (journal)

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update but I got some more plants in from buceplant and just got an aquatek mini regulator with a 20oz paintball Co2 canister for injecting with Co2. Just waiting on my drop checker and archaea Co2 diffuser to come in.

What Co2 diffuser should I get?

I ended up going with this one https://aquaforestaquarium.com/products/archaea-super-co2-diffuser-l-size . I think it’ll be good. It was more money than some of the others but it’s very trusted and I’ve seen phenomenal results,

What Co2 diffuser should I get?

I’m pretty sure I’m going to go with one of those atomic knock offs. We’ll see how it works out, I’ll look into the Ubarn one.

What Co2 diffuser should I get?

I have a 20 gallon long tank which I’m going to be adding a paintball Co2 system onto. I’ve decided to go with the aquatek mini regulator but I’ve been having trouble finding a diffuser. I really would like it to be under $20 if possible. I’m looking for something that really produces a fine...

    20 gallon long aquascape (journal)

So the tank has been filled for maybe about 2-3 days now. I’ve decided to plant some dwarf hairgrass in the back but I think I might just plant it in the front of the scape too. Thoughts?

    20 gallon long aquascape (journal)

This scape was actually a large source of inspiration for the one I’m doing now. Of course one of the main differences being the use of sand in this one.

    20 gallon long aquascape (journal)

The substrate is in now I just have to figure out plants. I’m thinking montecarlo and dwarf hairgrass for the foreground but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.

    20 gallon long aquascape (journal)

Yeah I agree but I probably won’t change it. I always try to follow that rule but for this scape in particular I decided to really stick with an “island” scape but thanks for the feedback! :)
