    "Small"' probably means 1-2 inches. Just make sure you get the most hardy looking ones. I usually try to look for ones already defending their territiory.

    You can try to hand feed them. I did that with my GBR's. Sometimes if they got a little spooked by my hands I used a long skewer or some chopsticks to bring the food up to them.

    My water peramitters are PH 8 a little high but has been steady here for over two weeks Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 20ppm and the bulbs are 20W each. I leave them on for about 12 hours a day.
