    Plant deficiency

Thanks! The plant is fully submersed. The leaf has been like that for a while and doesn’t look to be dying. All new leaves have a reddish look but normally turn green when fully developed. Full picture attached. It’s a large plant so a little difficult to get a good picture.

Hi Guys, Any ideas wha could be causing some of the leaves on my sword to look like this? I dose with macro and micro daily and use root tabs for my bottom feeders. Parameters: 50% water change every week Temp: 79F / 26C PH: 6.75 CO2 pressurized injection: 25-30 ppm NH4: 0 ppm NO2: 0 ppm...

    Plant deficiency?

Hi Guys, One of my plants, a radican sword I think, has a few leaves that look burned. See attached image. Any clues what this could be? It's only the leaves reaching the surface having the problem. My Anubis has some green algae leaves problems. My crypts look really great but older leaves...

    Sick swordtail

Hi guys, Any ideas what this could be going on with my swordtail? She has a white spot under the scales just behind her head. Looks like the scales in that area are coming loose. Water: 0 Nh4, 0 No2, 5-10 No3, KH 6-7, GH 12, PH 7.5, Temp: 78F Tank: 33G, 30% water change every week Filtration...

    Identifying 2 plants

I thought so too initially. But the oriental sword is known for the semi-transparent pink coloration of new leaves. Mine are all light green.

    Identifying 2 plants

I did som research and think it's a radican sword. It was pretty big when I got it with very long stems. Fits the description of a radican sword pretty good. Found this picture through google:

A better picture of the first plant. Any ideas what it is?

    Identifying 2 plants

Fast reply. Thanks. The first one has a very large stem and the leaves are more or less floating on the surface of the water. Is this a sword? I will see if I can get a better picture tomorrow.

    Amazon Sword dark green

Hi Guys, I have an Amazon Sword (I think) where the leaves are turning dark green (see photo). I had to cut most of the leave after I got it due to slime from an added piece of driftwood. This was a month ago. Do you have any ideas as to why? NH3/NO2 are at zero and NO3 is at 5-10. Lights are...

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Thanks. Will have to wait till tomorrow. Ran out of water conditioner :-o I have 10-15 snails in there. I did add some Tetra SafeStart I had left. Could that be the cause for the high NO3?

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Tested the water 24h after adding 2ppm ammonia. Result NH4: 0.6 NO2: above 1ppm NO3: 80ppm I feel like something is not quite right yet. Am I being too cautious? Thanks.

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Thanks! I did a 90% water change again. No NH4, NO2 and ca. 5ppm NO3. Have added 2ppm ammonia and will test tomorrow. If everything is fine then the fish are coming - finally :-)

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Did a test of the water today. NH4: <0.05ppm NO2: 1.0ppm NO3: 15ppm PH: 7.7 Something is not quite right. Should I add more ammonium? I also have a bottle of Tetra SafeStart. Should I try and add this? I have a feeling I still miss the the bacteria converting nitrite to nitrate. Thanks for...

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Thanks! Will test tomorrow. And I agree fishless tanks are not very nice :-o The tank is for my 8 year old daughter. She has been asking me for the last 3 weeks if we can put in some fish - every single day :-) She'll be a happy girl tomorrow when I tell her. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your...

****, you are fast. Thanks :-) Should I add any ammonium or just leave it till tomorrow and test again to see if you were right in the 0/0/10 prediction?

    Fishless Nitrogen Cycle

Hi Guys, I'm new to the aquarium world and have a few questions regarding a fishless nitrogen cycle. I have added ammonium over the last couple of weeks ensuring the level never got above 4 ppm. Now I see high levels of nitrite, 5 ppm, as well as very high levels of nitrate (60-80 ppm). Is...
