    DIY co2

When I used DIY co2, I hate much better luck getting bubbles with a Limewood airstone. They produced fine micro bubbles which my impellor thanked me for.

    75g Log :) (update)

75 Gallon. :) (Update) Been a while since an update. A lot of things have happened. My Glosso was eaten by my White Mollie or one of the Platies. I kept losing the BBA battle with a few plants. The Cabomba, Egera densa & Hydrocotyle verticillata. The swords slowly melted away. Lack of proper...

    starting planted tank...

When I did my 38 with flourite a while back.. the brownish water cleared to 50% the next night, and almost all gone the night after. I put in my hornwort after the first day, and filled it with nutrient sucking plants after that. :)

Diary of a 75 gallon Planted/S. American tank (Now with Pic)

I made a Wood Canopy and I used 3 dual T12 shoplight strips over my 75. (Hydro bill :) ) Then replaced the bulbs with Phillips Daytime Deluxe 6500k bulbs. In total the cost cost about $50-60. And theoretically I'm getting 3.2wpg. You could go with 2 dual strips giving you about 2wpg if you dont...

Anubias barteri Nana, best way to plant it

I would always keep at least 3-4 inches of rhizome 'Stem' Tie it to wood. rock or on the substrate. You can cut a smill slit in a healthy part of the rhizome. a new rhizome will grow out. Dont cut more than one slit at a time.

Multiple substrates in different areas of the tank

Cutting it is not fun, do it on a concrete floor. Home Depot or any Big Box improvement store sells pre cut sheets of Acrylic, Lexan and Plexi in various sizes. Multiple seperate pieces might work better if you want it curvy or else you'll need some pins or rocks or something to hold its shape...

    Few questions about loaches

My daughter liked the "Loach Races" my pair performed in the tank. They zipped back and forth switching the lead. Although I've never tried it... I've read that dropping a small leaf of lettuce in the tank overnight works sometimes. The snails crowd up on it, and you just pull the piece of...

    Adding Substrate Questions...

I recently recieved my 50 Lbs of Turface MVP that I wish to add to my tank.. after housing my fish and plants elsewhere temporarily. It is a 75 Gallon. The tank has been setup for about 2 months. It currently holds 5 bags of flourite (90 lbs) giving me about 3" of bed. I would like to know if...
