So you're saying for my freshwater tank I dont even need to gravel vac? What about all of the waste that settles into it and begins to create toxic waste?

    Gravel Vac without water change?

That's what I need![emoji29] I need to get the art of circulation down in my tank. I've been trying to master it but power heads are so expensive for nice ones that push water hard. I currently have one hydor koralia in the tank and just the FX6 heads pointing up to break surface tension to...

    Gravel Vac without water change?

Well it only takes about an hour to for the FX6 to clear up the water again after gravel vacuuming and disturbing the substrate. But while changing the water I typically do the substrate anyway quickly. Anyone else have ideas as to how this is effective or useful?

    Gravel Vac without water change?

Hey guys! I had a quick question in regards to gravel vacuuming freshwater tanks. I picked up a Fluval FX6 recently and found that there is actually a fluval made kit that can allow you to gravel vac your tank by just using the filter instead of using the buckets method or python method. MY...

    Oscar tank mates

Yea I decided my Oscar's also needed a new tankmate lately and I put in a gold severum. She's a pretty pink pearl color and she's seems to be doing great in the tank with them

    Oscar tank mates

Hey! I've had Oscar's for about 4 or 5 years now. I've kept a few different fish with my Oscar's. I've had success with the following tankmates: Jack Dempseys Silver dollars Jewel cichlids I've heard that bichirs can go with Oscar's so long as they're big enough I once had a flowerhorn cichlid...

    Bichir and oscar?

Hey guys I just wanted to spark a quick discussion of this question, What does everyone think of putting both a bichir and two Oscars in a tank? Has anyone had luck with bichir in oscar tanks? I didn't know if the aggression of either one would beat the other. I currently have two large Oscars...

    Oscars activity

Wow this was extremely helpful!! Thank you so much. Yea I truly believe it's mating. They've both been digging out the gravel in the same site. They're still tail slapping and gill flaring. They've been trying to lip lock quiet a bit lately as well. Here I have attached a picture of the gravel...

    Oscars activity

Hey everyone I had a quick question. I've had one oscar for a long time and he or she is probably around 12-13 inches now. I just recently got another oscar that is around 7-8 inches. The smaller newer of the two seems to be displaying some weird activity lately. They've both been picking up...

    Weird blister?

Hmmmm thanks for the help. The gas imbalance sounds intriguing. I'll have to look into it. I'm not quite sure exactly how I would test that?

    Weird blister?

How can I test to see if it solid or liquid?

    Weird blister?

Not sure if it's liquid or solid filled in the blister. Yes that was the original site of injury. The affected flowerhorn used to pick fights with my oscar and the oscar fought back by biting the front of his head. Now there's that blister that remains. Very strange. I'll have to check the...

    Goldfish emergency

Hmmm well it doesn't look too bad actually. I understand your scared for it and it's not your fault. Things like this can happen any time. It's most likely sitting on the bottom of the tank because of the stress it endured when it was stuck not necessarily due to its damage. The scales will grow...

    Weird blister?

Hey guys! I recently solved an issue with my flowerhorn cichlid fighting with my oscar and it's head was healing but there's been this weird blister shape on his head for about a month now. I tried melafix and no luck with that. Levels are great in the tank right now and I've been checking them...
