    Fishless Cycle Help!

I have a 29 gallon. No seeding material. Always dosed ammonia to 4 ppm. I didn't use bacteria in a bottle. The whole process took 34 days. At day 30 my nitrites disappeared ( due to 80-90% water changes daily) with every change I dosed it back to 4 ppm ammonia and it was always gone the next...

    Fishless Cycle Help!

in my case having well water, we had a company come out that specialized in wells. They have their own methods of testing. They gave us a report of the dissolved metals in ppm. I'm not suggesting you do that as it is very costly. Our tap water tasted horrible. If your water taste pretty decent...

    Fishless Cycle Help!

I have the same bio rings as you. As far as the ammonia dosing goes, I have always stuck to the 4 ppm because it is what the guide said. It really seemed to work well. The nitrites started spiking fairly quickly as the ammonia started dropping down. I have been excited, exhausted, aggravated...

    Fishless Cycle Help!

I followed/ am following the same article you did. I also like you added a bunch of API instant cycle to my tank. My ph is really low due to well water that is very acidic it comes out of the tap at 6.0 and after letting it sit overnight goes to 6.2. I have been at it now for 3 weeks in a...

    Help new to planted tank

I am new to this too and have been at it for a couple of months now. You are in a great place with helpful people. Although I can't tell you how to make them grow quickly, I can tell you that I used root tabs and also seachem flourish. I was using flourish 2 times a week while also cycling my...

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

I agree I have prime shipping with Amazon. I am a very impatient person and I am learning quickly that you cant be impatient with a tank. In the last day or so my tank has formed what I guess is a bacterial bloom. I can see a lot of small particles in the water toward the top where the bubbles...

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

our local stores around here do not carry many canister filters. I pulled the mechanical specs on the 50 gallon model and it moves 165 GPH not the 200 advertised. I figured that this would be adequate for my 29 gallon tank. The other filters they had were for 100 gallons plus and over $200. I...

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

I just purchased a canister filter (zoo med Macro 50). I has a rough sponge filter on the intake then goes through carbon, bio rings and finally a dense sponge on the output. Previously all I had was the standard filter with no media. Thanks for all of your help. I'm learning as I go.

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

Should I be doing pwc or let it be as long as the water is clear? I notice my live plants really greening up with the ammonia environment.

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

cycle Thank you for your response. I'm not adding any water to it. Also not adding any ammonia since the 1st dose. The PH really threw me off. I have well water here and we don't drink it due to the taste of dissolved minerals in the water. I was afraid that it did not have enough of a buffer...

    New 29 gallon tank cycling

I have a new 29 gallon tank setup. I dosed it with ammonia for a fish less cycle to get the ammonia up to 4 ppm. I have been keeping track of it on a spreadsheet. The PH fluctuates quiet a bit. Ids this a normal thing? Also can you guys look at my picture to give advice on if the process looks...

    Dying tiger barbs

They are still kicking. I use the freeze dried blood worms. I cleaned out the 29 gallon tank and set it back up. I'm going to run the full cycle before stocking it again. I just added ammonia to it a few minutes ago.

    Dying tiger barbs

I did a pwc 2 days earlier. The water is at 76 degrees. I have a whisper 10-30 charcoal filter. I feed them tetra tropical flakes and bloodworms 2 times a week. I recently added some java moss and 2 anubias.

    Dying tiger barbs

I was cycling a 29 gallon aquarium with 10 small tiger barbs and 5 Danios. Yesterday evening I checked the water with an api master kit. My amonia, nitrate, nitrite were all 0. The ph had dropped from 7 (using api ph 7.0)to 6 within a couple of days. I added 1 scoop of it to a glass of water...

    Java moss advice

The best I can calculate is 815. The light meter shows 1462lx. I have a 29 gallon tank so I am calculating 6 square feet for it. That allows for a 20% factor of possible light escaping before it reaches the bottom.

    Java moss advice

I bought some java moss and it was delivered yesterday. I tied some to rocks and decorations and the rest I kinda flattened out on the bottom. I am uploading an image of what I have. Do you think I can accomplish a cover on the bottom with what I have? I am completely new to this. Also, what...

    Howdy folks

I have been reading you guys post for a while and figured I would join. I am a novice when it comes to aquariums. I started off with a 10 gallon tank and have moved up to a 29 gallon tank. I am hoping to have a living tank (if I can keep things alive) soon. I am currently cycling with fish. You...
