    Bert’s Ada gardens

Getting closer to the final result. Stems are thickening at the rear thanks to the addition of the chihiros led. I’m running it 100% power for 4 hours per day in addition to my other fixture. Ran out of co2 for a couple of days so abit of algae here and there but nothing to worry about...

    Best CO2 reactor/diffuser?

I used a cerges reactor on my 60g, to be honest I liked it a lot more than the Griggs I’m currently running on a smaller tank. Just easier to use and maintain. Here’s the link https://glassboxgardeners.com/threads/how-to-build-a-cerges-co2-reactor.346/

    Regulator?

Tunze, azoo, Milwaukee, GLA, aqua tek and ista all make good regulators. Can’t go wrong with any of these. Aim for a mid priced reg as the cheaper ones are pretty nasty. If money isn’t an issue I’d go with a duel stage GLA but any of these other brands I mentioned will last you years aswell...

New 30/40 gallon breeder setup questions

Chihiros led’s are good and cheap. Dimmable aswell so you could run it on 1 or 2. Liminophila sessifolia is a great plant for your background. However it does grow insanely fast.

Ah yes, unfortunately my light legs aren’t adjustable :(. The new light should be here next week hopefully. Just need to find a bigger powerboard for all these dam plugs!

    Algae/deficiencies

Looks like diatoms to me, how long has the tank been operating for? Diatoms are common in new set ups and generally disappears as the tank matures. I’d also knock your lighting back to 8 hours. 50% weekly water changes will help a lot and saving your hand over the plants and substrate to stir...

Yea I thought the current light that I have (RBG LED) would have enough power to handle it. It’s supposed to be 90 par at 45cm but to be honest I highly doubt that it is. Either that or it lacks in spread.

    Bert’s Ada gardens

Plants starting to grow in nicely, I’ve order a chihiros A series for a second light to get the rotala hra at the back to colour up. Think I’ll run it at about 80% power for 4 hours per day and leave my current LED at the standard 8 hours. Not liking the leggy growth of the rotala hra, think...

Thanks dela [emoji106] I also had a run in with the bio security team and had 5 pots of Monte Carlo taken. After doing some research (not sure if the same rules apply for WA) I found out I can legally import aquarium plants if I put in a import permit with the scientific names and have an...

    Bert’s Ada gardens

Thanks fresh, yea I was pretty guttered about having to throw out hundreds worth of plants and getting rid of my Oscar. I got him when he was under and inch in size and he was over 30cm when I took him to the pet shop to be rehomed. Feels good to be back into the scapes though, getting a...

    Bert’s Ada gardens

I’m back! I’ve had a hell of a 6 months. Basically got kicked out of the house I was living in (landlord sold the house and gave me 3 weeks notice to leave). I was forced to move to a smaller house so I had to pull down my 5 tanks and get rid of all my fish. I’ve sold all my large tanks (even...

    Bert’s Ada gardens

Update, 60p and 30c starting to look really nice. Loving the lack of maintenance with these tanks. Everything being auto is a blessing! Algae is starting to settle down now, a lot less GSA and BBA is subsiding. Trident and Thor’s hammer java fern is proving to be an extremely slow grower...

How do I make an "underwater tree"?

Yep superglue gel is the goods, it works with wet moss. The moss will grow out and you can trim it to any shape you want. U can also superglue it to round filter sponges if u want a perfect round tree canopy if that makes sense?

Well it’s all done! Have a few dramas to sort out tomorrow but it’s been a long day and I’m finished with tanks for today [emoji38] Have abit of a rattle in the hob I need to fix, 2 little drip leaks in the plumbing and the auto doser needs to be primed and set to daily dosage. Here’s the...

    Bert’s Ada gardens

Paint finally dried so I’ve started to put things into place. Still need to drill holes in the cabinet for power leads but I’ve mounted the reactor, auto doser, positioned the auto dosing containers, set up the co2 splitter, drilled all the holes for dosing hoses/filter hoses. I’ve also mounted...

Haha certainly am! Yea it’s still a little bit tacky today. Was 4 degrees over night so it didn’t get much drying done [emoji37] I was hoping to start the under cabinet stuff today but I think it will have to wait till tomorrow [emoji35]
