Can anyone tell me what this is? It literally looks like her belly has burst open and her intestines are hanging out. Anyone know what this is or what could cause it? Bacterial infection of some sort maybe? I'm worried now cause I'm starting to think that some of the other fish in the tank...

My Temp is about 77 and PH is at 8.2 naturally, but am injecting CO2, so it stays around 7.2 via my controller... any ideas what changes I should make to get more males? :) -TIA!

So we've got some Endler's that are breeding (like thats tough :) )... and we're getting about 15 females for every male. Are there any environmental factors (Temp, PH, GH, KH, etc.) that could have an impact on the sex of the fry? Any tips to get more males? Thanks! -Brad

Ok, yeah, I figured CO2 is the next step and have been looking into pressurized systems. Hopefully I can get one on there in the next couple of weeks or so. Not dosing any ferts... should I be? Interesting about the hardness levels... so things like Equilibrium, Acid Buffer, and Alkaline...

Heh.. and yes... it is an art. I end up with the PooF white cloud of DE in the tank... no worries, its inert and doesnt hurt fish. Just leave it run with the PooF in there and it clears itself up... So Newfound, whats the best way to prime that you've found?

Hi Newfound- I'd guess that either 1 of 2 things is happening here... You arent getting ALL of the air out of it at the priming stage, or much more likely (from your report) that its just getting mega cloged really quick which is creating a bigger vacum and allowing more air to be built up...

I've got Pool Filter Sand as the substrate, so the crushed wafers sit on top. And yes, it is cycled. Everyone is happy and healthy as can be. Does anyone have any additional thoughts on the Crush or No Crush question?

What are the different ways that people do PWCs? Is there a "right" way to do a PWC? I have a Python, so I use the Python to pull xx% of the water, then after matching the tap water temp to the tank water temp, add enough AquaSafe or Prime to the tank and then fill straight from the tap...
