    Oscar in 25 gal?

no oscar. never in a 25 gallon. i agree with Delapool. a ram or dwarf gourami would be as big as you could get.

definitely not them.... these guys have scales and a foward facing mouth like other gudgeons. it has the same pattern though.

    gudgeon ID please

At the LFS i work at, an order of Pacific Blue Eyes arrived, but; in the bag of Blue eyes, there was a number of gudgeons. Some were Purple spot gudgeons, the rest were something ive never seen before. Most died very quickly, but i managed to get four of them for free. They now live happily with...

    silver dollar ID please

it is not a spotted silver dollar. that is for sure. it does sometimes show more orange though. it must be a Lippincottianus. after looking at some pics, it has to be a cross of some sort. maybe M.m x M.Lippin

Does anyone know what this is?

theres no point in adjusting your PH, because the salt will just bring it back up again. scoop the fish out gently rub one of the spots between two fingers. if they do not change, it may be a parasite in the veins of the fins. either way, you should isolate it, unless the spots come of. if the...

    Fish tank sand

everyone says oscars are nasty big brutes who just tear everything up.... but i have never had them do that to me. i have kept the smallest of fish with my oscars.... and the worst they do is sleep on top of them. here is my main 170gallon...

    Fish tank sand

texas cichlids get just as big as oscars and get 5x more aggressive ( super green texas that is ). sand is good with keeping the waste at the surface, so all you have to do is scoop it up with a net every once in a while. if you position your filter outlets and inlets and have good circulation...

    Fish tank sand

tiger oscars do get big... but a 90g could handle it. if that is what you want..... make sure the angelfish are a breeding pair, ir they may fight. if you wanted some schooling fish in there, a school of larger tetras like congo, widow, head and tail light or lampeye tetras would work with the...

    Fish tank sand

it depends..... if you were going to go american cichlids like angelfish, severums, convicts, firemouths etc you could mix them with the sharks, mainly rainbow sharks, or silver sharks. if you chose african cichlids, it is a whole different scenario though. in a 90 gallon tank, a small...

    Fish tank sand

it would definitely work...... its just something youre probably going to look back on. then again, thats just my two peice. if you like the look of it and it suits the tank youre setting up, by all means use the stuff, after all its not me looking at the tank everyday, its you, so go with what...

Any have a clue what could be wrong???

what are you feeding?-- give it plenty of vegetable matter. try some peas. this should fix him up. hes just a bit bloated. if it gets worse, starve him for 2-3 days and start feeding him more peas again.

Ghost Knife in a shallow tank

to feed; this fish needs to be able to stand its whole body length vertical in order for its mouth to sift through the substrate. remember that this fish can grow more than 70cm.

Just got a gorgeous Black Ghost Knife Fish...questions

he is just nibbling the leaves to test out his environment. he is nearly completely blind and has nearly no idea what he is touching or biting. mine goes straight up into my massive oscars gills and mouth... he doesnt seem to mind at all. being an electric fish, he uses an electronic pulse to...

    Fish tank sand

i wouldnt go down that road. go straight up to your LFS or landscaping supplier and purchase some good quality river sand. it will make your tank look like a million bucks. dont get sucked into going cheap and nasty, you will regret it later on. --- in a 90 gallon... youre probably looking at...

    Fish similar to goldfish??

try paradise fish.... they can survive in very low temperatures, and like bettas; they can breath air from the surface of the water. they are often sold along side goldfish, and sport amazing coloration. but unlike the bettas, two males can be kept together without an issue.

    Growth on my torpedo barb

isolate and treat for external parasites and then for fungus. if you dont get to it now it will spread to your other fish.
  24. rileygentner

Does anyone know what this is?

dont worry about it. if it starts to get any worse, isolate them if possible; but treatment in the main tank with a bit of salt usually works. it is indeed a fungal infection, but only the first stage of it and if you treat it the right way now, you shouldnt have a problem.
