    Ghost Ribbon Eel

Thanks for the response. I have already bought the little guy. He is around 2 feet in length, but very slim body shape. The eel I purchased goes by a few names, ghost ribbon moray, ghost moray, white stripe moray. etc.. Tonight it ate 8 small ghost shrimp out of my hand. This eel from what I...

    Ghost Ribbon Eel

Does anyone out there have any experience with Ghost Ribbon Eel? The local fish store has had one for a while and while I was there today I saw it eat two ghost shrimp. From what I have read about the ribbon eels the hardest part about keeping them is getting them to eat? I also read today that...

    FOWLR and a few corals?

I am a little confused at how the WPG rule work. Couldn't I have even medium light corals towards the surface where the light is more intense, and low light corals lower in the tank? since the tank is only 20" tall 260 watts of light should be able to penitrate the water right? Please advise...

    FOWLR and a few corals?

The tank is only 20" tall and I was thinking they could go towards the top of the tank. My main focus is fish but I would love to be able to add some color to the tank. Arn't there a few low light corals out there.

    FOWLR and a few corals?

I am looking at a 100 gallon tank with dual overflows, a large DIY sump, a 100-150 lbs of live rock, and a Berlin classic protein skimmer. Is it possible to maintain a FOWLR tank with a few soft corals? I would like to have some corals for colar and character. Any coments or advice? Thanks.

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

So it looks like I will be getting a 100 gallon tank instead of a 125 for size reasons. What size tank should I use for the sump? It will also be only one built in overflow rated at 600 gph. I would like to overfilter if anything but I also do not want to waste any money. What would be a good...

Help! How do I catch this pesky fiji damsel?

You can try the two liter bottle trick. Take a two liter soda bottle, cut the top off and turn it around so that the cap part around so it points inside the bottle. Attatch it with glue or zip ties. A little confusing, let me know if you have any questions.

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

The way I was planning the sump the water will be flowing over the baffles into the next chamber. So does 15" still sound good or should I make them 14". I was going to use the same plan as this guy on a larger scale. what do you think?

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

I was planning on 15" for the first part, 8" for the Skimmer, 2" for the baffles, 8" for the return, 15" for the fuge. Does that seem like the right amount of space for each chamber? I was planing on having the baffles 15" tall (more like 3/4 high) should I make those shorter? Thanks.

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

Is 30 lbs enough? I will be using a 55 gallon long tank, I was planning on an area 15"L X 13"W X 15"H will 30 lbs do it? or should I go 60 lbs. After looking I am thinking 60 lbs. Ideas?

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

At this time I only have about 70 lbs of live rock, thats .5 lbs a gallon do I still want to use the live rock over the bio balls? P.S. I am still in the planning stages I do not have an existing system right now. I just want to make sure I do it all right. Also where do you buy live rock...

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

Yeah you are right I did not consider the price of buying live rock for the megaflow. Is it a lot better to use the live rock instead of bio balls, even with a fuge? Thanks.

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

After I priced out the live rock and all the little details it is going to be about the same price as the megaflow. I just want to confirm that it will be a much better filter setup. I am going to be incorporating a fuge as well. What kind of lighting do you recommend for the fuge? Also are...

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

if I use the same floor plan as the one in the example and just use a 55 gallon tank instead of 40 gallon then will this be good. I would prefer to over filter rather than under filter especially if I will be building it myself. Does anyone have any suggestions on the floor plan or should I use...

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

Thanks a lot I will definatly be doing it myself. That is a great link showing how to do it step by step. How does the Fuge work? Is there seperate water flow? I always thougth that the sump would go in this order: LR rubble, fuge, bubble trap, pump into the tank? Is there an advantage to how he...

    Bioload after adding an eel

I think you will be ok adding both of them at the same time, in a well established tank. I would monitor the water closely and maybe a few partial water changes if neccesary. Also keep in mind that eels do not need to eat every day. you would be fine feeding "him" only twice a week, and it is...

    Overflow and Sump Flow Rates

I am very interested in this method. Could you please help me with how I would put it together? What do I use as the filter media? Live rock? Are there any draw backs to a DIY sump? Is it going to be pretty loud or are there ways to quiet it down?
