Thinking about get some pictus catfish and it seems they like really soft water. This is a problem because my water very hard. I'm talking like 150ppm. Would the catfish be find in my hard water? Or what should I do?

Recently I have heard that Rams can beat up bottom dwellers like cory cats and loaches is this true? I really like but I don't if I should get them. Would 1 pair for female and male be good with those bottom dwellers? I have a 55gal btw

I not have a tank at the moment but I am looking to start one. I have read about the nitrogen cycle and I have one question. When can I start adding fish after the nitrate levels go down? (I think that's the last step)
