    new brackish 10 gallon

ok, so, I have like 5 empty tanks sitting around, but not alot of room, so I set my 10 gallon back up. I moved over some dead live rock (it was live rock once upon a time) put in an inch of sand, bumped the salinity up to about 1.010, (I need a better hydrometer, will pick one up tomorrow...

    Betas in a community tank

    Betas in a community tank

Just wondering if there is a tank large enough to house 2 male bettas? Also, would bettas cause a problem if I introduce angels to a large community tank? Just wondering if other fish with long fins would be a problem at all?

    Building a stand, 75 gallon

Oh I have the skills and experience, and the tools, I just don't have a tape measure at my apartment right now. I simply don't have room to place 2x4s like that though because I am using a 55 gallon sump, which is only 6 inches narrower than the 75, whereas two 2x4s places so would decrease...

    Starting to plan next tank

Well, I have my 29 reef right now that I am about to change over to a single GSP tank and remove the corals. I have an empty 55 lying on the floor, and have found a cheap unused 75 gallon. I always planned on using the 55 as the sump/refugium for a larger SW tank. So, here shortly I plan on...

    Restocking time

Well, I had a die off this summer, lost all my bichirs and a few other fish. I restocked with 2 oscars, and a medium albino channel cat (tank still had a pleco, 2 silver dollars, and a pictus cat) Well, the albino cat killed both oscars, and he went into my pond. So I am back to what I had...

    Recovering a tank

I have a 29 gallon, it has been running for about 2 years now. only fish I have lost, one jumped and one died when moving the tank 200 miles. The two clowns been in since the start are just fine, if not growing at the expected rate. Anyways, I am in college, and thus broke. As an...

Wanting to restart my planted tank

being too fine would damage the roots? I know it doesn't have sharp edges....wouldn't be very good in a reed tank then, but it does keep the pH kinda up there, I figure I would counter act that with a few pieces of driftwood if the water being basic would be bad

Wanting to restart my planted tank

10 gallon tank 40 watts of power compact 10k I have one of those CO2 yeast things (not as effective as compressed CO2...but.....) Also have the full set of nutrients for a planted tank I dont have a filter for it, but I could move over a canister filter to the tank that I don't think would be...

    Lighting

I have more than just that 65watt. that is just the light I need to replace (having to replace the ballast for it as well) the ballast blew and took the light with it...I just dont know if I should go with a 10k/6500, or go with just a straight 10k.

    Lighting

I need to replace my white light. 65 watt, power compact, square pin. Now, the tank is a reef, no SPSs, clams, nothing really high light. Do I want the straight 10k, or the dual daylight (10k/6500)?

school fish --- the principle ???

the purpose of schooling is that smaller fish in large groups can give of the presentation of a much larger fish to their predators, throwing the predators off, and If the predator attacks, it decreases the chance of it getting a hold of a small fish (all the same looking targets making it hard...

school fish --- the principle ???

It should be noted that without something at least slightly aggresive in the tank, schooling fish may stop schooling.

    Unexpected arrivals!!!! HELP!!!!

If you just leave the fry in the tank, they will likely get eaten by the larger guppies/platies. I use guppies for feeders...can go through a few hundred a week.

    Large Mouth Bass

I caught a small one out of our pond yesterday....thought about throwing it in my 75....then though about losing the fish I actually paid for when they became dinner to a slightly larger fish... I would not mind getting hold of some small bass about that size though, I am looking at a restock...
