Most Ludguida is pretty hardy. I've grown plenty without co2, though I've always had the DIY reactor co2 never the liquid. If you want it to stay red like that you'll need iron though.
I have tried a betta with rams and it did not work very well for me. But every betta have a different personality. I had a male that would guard baby guppies from their parents so you really won't know till you try.
