I ve boiled driftwood, for almost hours

I have boiled driftwood for close to 5 hours. It's sitting in water and it's no longer turning any more red color. Is it safe to put into my tank, or will it still leech color? Because if I could again, color comes out?? Please tell me what I should do? I greatly appreciate your help

    Cycle

I used Dr. Tims, as well. It took me about three weeks to cycle. I dosed it to 4 ppm today be on the safe side, and waited for readings to be zero in 24 hrs. Once I did that,I again dosed for 4 ppm waited 24 hrs. and I was good to go. NEVER hurts to be overly cautious, especially when you...

    Ammonia for cycling?

Why don't u go to your lfs, and see if they have Dr. Tim's, it's great, I used that...it's exactly the ammonia you would need to cycle. It's a small bottle....you don't need that unless ur going to clean your house with that purchase from Ace...lol

    Stocking/Nitrate

I have an established cycled 30 gallon freshwater aquarium, with no live plants. I have water parameters of: pH: 7.4 Ammonia: 0.0 Nitrite: 0.0 Nitrates:. 40.0 I use a ehiem 2215 canister filter, and my tank consists of: 14 Glofish 5 Nerite Snails 2 Red...

    I have Nitrates!!

Congratulations, but bittersweet... Your cycled, that's so very important. Now leads you to keeping control of it, almost neurotically. I've now added to my OCD..

A dirty aquarium on the side of the road

Goldfish are VERY Messy and dirty fish, and a 20 gallon tank would not be sufficient for their growth. So, I don't recommend adding goldfish, unless u want to clean the tank every other or every three days! You can get some beautiful glofish, they are tetras, and very hardy

    Active Sponge

I have used Dr Tim's Ammonia Solution to start my tank, and have also used Dr Tim's One and Only Beneficial Bacteria....to seed the filter media. I highly recommend both of these when doing a FISHLESS cycle. Both found on Amazon, and they are the only thing I had used. No problems at...

    Confused with Cycling

I had mine crash at 6.6...thank goodness it was not stocked. I was doing FISHLESS cycling, nitrates went through the roof as did nitrites. Did you test you pH from the tap? What do u use tests strips or drops? Drops are much more accurate

    Confused with Cycling

pH of 6.4? Why? That low a pH can cause a tank to crash or even stop cycling....better to get that crushed coral asap and raise it to well over 7.0 or higher...IMO

    Nitrate Reading?

I really shouldn't have to do a water change in the amount that you state...all my parameters are perfect , however, my LFS stated I should do a water change every other week, because it was an excessive number of changes. Even with that my nitrates were still in then 10's. Fish should no sign...

    Tank Algae Guru Needed!

Doesn't a high nitrate of 80 considered to be somewhat dangerous for your fish to survive?? As far as I understand also, high nitrates help the formation of algae, do they not??
