    filter cleaning

    My Aquaclear filter is not filtering like it used to. It is only 4 months old so I don't know what could be wrong. I have cleaned everything but the sponges and it still is not working that well. Should I try cleaning out the sponges? If so, how do I do that?

    the heater kicks on about 4 times an hour, staying on 5 min or less each time. No, it is not near any windows or anything. I may switch to a floating thermometer or a suction cup one. I couldn't decide when I was at the store.
