I'm an aqua clear person too, I just love the versatility [emoji4]

    Keep biomedia wet

I'm not familiar with purigen, but you should be able to keep your biomedia in a pail with an airstone. If it's rinsed well (so that it's not leaking sludge into the tank), I don't see a problem with keeping it in the tank- my main concern would be that filter sludge

    Reducing water flow for Betta?

My favourite trick, of everything that I have done to divert flow, was to get a bunch of floating hornwort and tie it near the outflow of my filter. The hornwort took the current, and it barely affected the tank itself [emoji4] Now eventually the hornwort complained about the temperature of the...

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

another water change..The male betta has finrot....again. I was looking over my photos in my phone, and it seems that he's had it in one stage or another nearly since we had him. Thinking of adding Indian Almond leaf to his tank, and running him with a touch of salt full time.....

Trying so hard to save this fish

The oxygen will disperse into the water, you dont eed to put the stone directly under him...if you move it slightly to the side, he will still gain O2, and you don't have to worry Does this link help at all?http://https://koi-care.com/koi-diseases-treatments/

    29+38 bowfronts. Betta paradise

Hi everyone I have a dream: to fill my tanks with Betta I have a 29gallon bowfront housing a male, whom I named Sir Munch a Lot while he was in the community(we lost the community to a fungal desease, and he's alone with Nerites now) I recently tore down, sterilised and rebuilt this tank, and...

    Fin rot or injury?

If it's an injury it will grow back with clean water and good food. I once had a pleco swim into my filter unit and lose half of his fin- 5 months later you would never know it had happened. You should see imrpovement from an injury in a couple of weeks. If you think it may rot, watch for...

    Sir Munch A Lot

This is the male Veil Tail that was bought for my child(for me) because I had never seen such a beautiful fish. He was at time of purchase a shimering Teal colour, and now ranges from Teal to royal blue depending on the light, and his mood. He thinks that evey shadow is there to feed him, and will t

Trying so hard to save this fish

Tetra fungas guard is my choice for fungal/bacterial infection It turns the water green, because one ingredient is a variant of malachite green....but it's a good med to keep on hand. It does claim to treat swim bladder disease, mainly because swim bladder can be caused by bacteria, fungus. In...

Trying so hard to save this fish

I would avoid citrus, but melon is a great choice and my goldfish love it. The spinach is also a great choice. Maybe some bloodworms would help him put on weight? I was warned to be careful about feeding too many peas to my goldfish, as they can run through the digestive system too quickly...

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Cleaned goldfish tank Monsters tried to eat me, thus solidifying my belief that goldfish are little more than swimming stomachs Going to do the Betta now....at least he only pecks of a hand is held above the water, and it's because he's looking for pellets

Trying so hard to save this fish

I don't know much about alternative medicine for fish, sorry The most I have ventured into there is garlic and salt Btw, garlic in the fish tank stinks up the house [emoji13]

Trying so hard to save this fish

Is he eating greens and stuff? Tetra fungas guard is a great med for if he has anything bacterial/fungal causing his swim bladder issue. You could put his tank to about 75, to speed up digestion, without stressing him...that's summer water temperature There's also a way to make a harness...

    Need Advice!

Check the bottom of the ornaments My own research has turned up that plastics with the recycling symbol and a number 2,4,5 (the more solid plastics) are aquarium safe. If it's sold for the aquarium, you are probably ok It's more likely that your crazy nitrite is simply your tank cycling, and...

    Need Advice!

Looking better then Have nitrates yet? Once you're getting nitrates, you can manage with 25% daily to every other day water changes until your own bacterial colony is built to the point of being able to convert ammonia within 24 hours When you read 0ammonia/0nitrite/10-20mitrate, your tank...
