    Looking for suggestions 125 gallon

Took your advice on the tetras, I had 10 but lost 3 to ich. Growing my cichlids out here but they will be going in my 260 in the next month or so. https://streamable.com/or1qwi Plan on adding some angels and loaches after the other cichlids are transferred. I also want to add more Congo’s...

    Isn't this a contradiction?

I could be wrong but my understanding is, that it turning brown is it being covered with algae. If your tank is stable and you don’t have your lights on 24/7 I don’t think it should be an issue.

    Looking for suggestions 125 gallon

Hey everyone getting the final stages of my new house setup now and am about to finalize the setup on my 260 cichlid “community” tank. I’ve been growing the slow growing and more peaceful fish out in a 75 gallon while moving and getting the house ready and and am at the stage now where I will be...

    260 gallon aquarium

I’m thinking something along these lines: White sand substrate, 2 large pieces of driftwood (I already have both of these) some fake plants attached to slate. It will be filtered for now with 2 FX6 canister filters which I also have already. 4 Geophagus Parnibae (Red head tapajo) 4 Geophagus...

    260 gallon aquarium

I think now I’m leaning in the direction of getting mostly severums with a couple of EBA and some geophagus. Maybe a Jack Dempsey or another random cichlid or two.

    260 gallon aquarium

I agree that they don’t get to know each other the same way a cat and dog would, my thinking, was more that I would add the most aggressive or fastest growing fish last to reduce the chance of casualties or fish snacks. Your story with the GT shows that it may be more luck based than anything...

    260 gallon aquarium

Great pic! I really like those bigger rocks in there. The blood parrot and Oscar really stand out there too.

    260 gallon aquarium

Love the GT, beautiful fish. your story has convinced me it might limit what I could put in the big tank with it though!

    260 gallon aquarium

Sounds awesome Charlie! Do you have any pics of your setup? Have you had any aggression issues? Did you get them all around the same time or what order did you introduce them? Thinking of doing something similar now. I also really like green terrors but have heard they may be too aggressive...

    260 gallon aquarium

I love this idea, and I plan on keeping the tank as pristine as possible but I work away from home sometimes and wouldn’t want to risk killing discus with less than pristine water while I’m away. I’m torn between doing a large selection of dwarf cichlids with dither fish and maybe some angels...

Cichlids for community tank (225 Gallons)

Finnex is what I have on my current planted tank but it’s not nearly the same size. I’m somewhat of a fluval fan though so I would be interested in trying them out.

Salting tank for first time- HELP

Great thanks for the response I’m sure there will be a time I need to use it, 2 to 1 is an easy ratio to remember. Do you mix it all at once or over time?

Salting tank for first time- HELP

Out of curiosity did you go with the tablespoon per 2 gallons or what was your exact salt dosage?

Cichlids for community tank (225 Gallons)

Any recommendations by the way for lighting on a 6 foot tank? I’ll probably have it lightly planted with some Amazon swords and other easy to care for plants. Edited for terrible spelling

Cichlids for community tank (225 Gallons)

I don’t think my wife is on board for me getting that many tanks yet, eventually I will have to make a fish room I guess lol. I am a sucker for schooling fish so the idea of having a little larger fish that schools is exciting to me for sure. I like the sexual dimorphism between the males and...

    Hi

Hello Noah! Welcome! That’s sounds like a lovely tank, what are the dimensions on it if you don’t mind me asking? And what kind of filtration?

Cichlids for community tank (225 Gallons)

Got it I’ll probably do that then to not risk having a pair of either. With a couple angels and the school of rainbows that should cover the mid to upper section of the tank.

Cichlids for community tank (225 Gallons)

Angels are the only cichlid I have experience keeping. I had 3 of them in a 75 and they got along when the pair wasn’t spawning. I know others have had worse experiences. Mostly I’ve kept swordtails, guppies, tetras and mollies so I would like to branch out to some larger or different fish...
