I still keep turtles. A pair of southern map, a painted, and a diamondback terrapin. My first turtles were red ear sliders. Had them in the 180 with a pair of 10 year old oscars. Mine were mellow, and the oscars would bite the edge of their shell and push them around the tank till they dropped...

That was 1988. The gator is long gone. Yes he outgrew the tank, was put in an indoor pond till he was about 5', then traded to a gator farm in Florida for another baby. Did that 2 times over the years. The farm got Gators used to being handled for their shows, so they were happy. I got tired of...

    Discus Profile- Symphysodon sp.

Only thing I'd disagree with is potential size. 8" is the common Max if raised properly. I've seen a lot bigger.

Thanks! Yeah, tons of work. The stingray was the easiest fish I had! Toss some shrimp or fish in every 2-3 days. He was in a 220, but needed bigger. The reef was an hour and a half every couple days, the octopus would only eat live crabs or shrimp, the moray had to be fed with a stick. Every day...

    Hi fish people!

I'd like to say it kept me off the streets, but it didn't. Lost a few girlfriends too. Heard the "you pay more attention to those fish than to me!" speech a few times. :D

Hans is the best! Start with quality discus and you won't be sorry. A little more $$$, but a lot less problems.

    Tank in sunlight

If the sun is hitting the front of the tank, you'll still be cleaning the glass a lot, even with uv.

One corner of unfilled tank not Flush on stand.

I like to use rigid foam board insulation. A lot firmer than styrofoam, but soft enough to absorb gaps. Paint the edge black and you won't know it's there. Plywood would work too, but a little more work. You might not need to do anything, but for peace of mind.

    Hi fish people!

Thanks for the Welcomes! Back in the good ole days, my best bud owned a pet shop and I would go with him to the distributors once a week. We would come back with a van full of boxes. I could buy anything I wanted at cost. He would also order anything I wanted for cost including tanks. He taught...
