I didn't get a chance to go and look a the used 125 this weekend. But I still plan to put to together a monster school of tiger barbs in the near future. I've done the community tanks in the past and I really like the idea of one single species of a colorful schooling fish. I love tiger barbs...
I'm thinking maybe black substrate to really set off the orange colors of the fish. Haven't really decided yet. For a while I've been planning to do a monster school of tiger b's. I finally found a used 125 that I can afford.
This weekend I'm going to look at the used 125. It comes with filters but the seller wasn't sure what they where. I won't set it up unless it is well filtered. I'd like to do just one MONSTER school of tiger barbs and a bunch of corys.
Obviously it will take time to get it completely...
Things only fall through floors in movies. It's a special affect gag. The way building are put together they don't just break in a hole shape in one spot. You can do some structural damage if the structure is weak or the tank is excessivly heavy.
Yep I had a thread in the GD forum about my first time with Bio Spira. 35 hex and 4 tiger barbs and bio spiral. Completely cycled the thank in 4 days.
Great stuff!!!
I have an old(1998 or 1999) tetra test kit that is spot on to my brand new API master kit and junlge test strips. I was afraid the old one was bad so I bought a new one. I was amazed to see how accurate it still was after all these years.
I have a battery powered gravel vac that I attached a 12 foot hose to. I throw the end of the hose out the closest door so I don't have to worry about the moving the old water. Then I fill 5 gallon buckets from the tub and de-clor in the tank.
I think it's a 220 magnum. Personally I'm not a fan of the magnums, they are such a pain to take care of. If I bought a new canister I'd go for a x3. But I have the magnum and I'm saving for my wedding in sept so no new toys for me.
The magnum container isn't very big on it so I'd have to...
Good to know! They certainly aren't skiddish now. In fact, quit the opposite. They either aren't bothered or actually currious when people or my dogs are around the tank. My dog with paw and mouth at the tanks and they don't even flinch, they just keep swimming by.
I do however have one...
In years past I had my 55 set up with a RFUG for bio and a magnum canister with carbon and filter sleeve. I've been reading that carbon isn't necessary. In our new house, I have a great place to put a 55 but it will be look through tanks(visible from both sides). I can't have the UG tubes...
I'm cool with 7, they look great already. When you say pansies are you talking about the barbs or cories? I have very little to no cover in my tank now. I really like it that way and that has stopped me from getting cories because I'd have to add some bottom cover for them.
I was thinking a dozen total? They will probably migrate to one of my un set up 55 in the next year or so. I just don't want to over stock them in the 35 hex just in case they end up staying for for a LONG time. The 55 will work better for the barbs becasue it has more length to swim. I know...
I've got a 35 hex with 7 tiger barbs in it. I plan to keep it a barb only tanks with maybe a small cat or two, or maybe not. I'm wondering how many barbs would live comfortable in 35 gallons. I plan to keep them a long time so I want to plan for there growth. They are about 1 1/4inches now...

I'm hoping my nitrites are at 0 when I get home today. I'm planning to do a 30% water change. So even if they aren't all the way to zero they soon will be.
Then it's time to add a few more barbs. I don't want to add to many and over load it. I'm thinking maybe 4 more.

I wasn't able to do a PWC last night so I will do it today after work. I'm thinking I should be completely cycled by then too.
