If it wasn’t fungus why would the surface lesions react to the fungus treatment?

so my mama guppy had a fungus spot on her left side and i treated the whole tank with API fungus cure, aside from killing my elodea anacharis it seemed to clear up the fungus on my guppy nicely...two days later while im doing the final water change to get rid of the medication i notice my guppy...

so went and got my water tested, turned out i have 0 ammonia but high nitrites, i seeded my tank with beneficial bacteria when i first cycled it and it had an established filter in it, idk what to do now besides water changes and i got aqueon amonia and nitrite neutralizer.

also they die one by one, its like they slow down turn cloudier and cloudier and then die every morning i wake up i find a new one dead, whole

i get the bag let it temperature acclimate for about an hour fill a cup with a clamped air tube that slowly drips water into the bag, but they arent dying when i buy them they're dying like two or three weeks after.

still finding dead shrimp... can anyone help?

hmmm im not sure, its most likely species specific if it was chytrid then its specific to amphibians, they have really thin skin compared to fish. Im not an expert sorry.

just an update, i got a bristlenose pleco and he obliterated the fungi on the rocks tank and filter, and a group of ghost shrimp is keeping it off new plant growth

i took an established sponge filter and put it in the tank so i have that, a new sponge filter, and a hob filter, the hob is just mechanical filtration, its been set up for a week i even seeded it with nitrifying bacteria cultures, im not getting any ph swings and i just added the hob filter 3...

oh and if you look closely at the picture new smoother shell towards the front is all new in the last two weeks....

i give it a quarter of an algae flake right into the flower pot it sleeps in during the day every night before turning off the lights to keep him from eating my live plants, after he eats it he just goes to the top and breathes then goes over the rocks cleaning them to the other wall breathes...

this is the second dead ghost shrimp i have found in three days, i have correct ph 0 ammonia supplemental calcium in the form of shells no predatory fish but they just seem to die and turn cloudy, i just put in a new hob filter and its creating a large amount of flow could that be killing my shrimp?

im sorry for your loss, i wouldnt put another amphibian in the tank the fungus could still be in there. if you still have the body maybe take it to the vet so they could positively identify the fungus

could it be some type of internal parasite? if it was ammonia poisoning i would expect the smallest fish to be damaged first and with how tough plecos are it really surprises me. test your water for lead and mercury, could cause neurological damage which may cause paralysis like symptoms.

maybe try api beta antifungal but call them first and ask if its safe, there is a fungi called chytrid fungus which could be in your water depending on the source and its wiping out amphibians around the world could you post a few pictures? also did you put anything in your tank from the wild?
