It’s a shame you can’t judge a fishes temperament before purchasing lol. I forgot Pygmys needed to be kept in groups. Probably stay away from those... what an African frog?

They are nice looking. Haven’t thought about what type I want yet.. I was thinking of a snail or shrimps... but I think the Betta would eat the shrimps... what about Pygmy corys?

Yeah.... seeding from my other tank so hopefully that will jump start the cycle. I want a nice Betta in there... don’t think there’s space for much else lol

Just thought I’d show an impulse purchase. Wanted a smaller tank to keep a Betta. Just cycling now. :)

Thanks. It’s getting there I’m sort of happy with how it looks. I do a large water change weekly and that seems to keep my parameters in check. I just feel there’s a lot of empty space at the top that fish don’t use. The cardinals don’t move much from where they are positioned in the picture.

Hi there. I currently own an 80l tank. Thanks to people help in here I have managed to fully cycle and start stocking fish. Fish have been gradually added over time, minimum of 1 week apart. My stocking levels are currently at the following: 4 x black fin corys 2 x Kribinsis m&f 10 x Cardinal...

Done that and just added 3 black fin corys to start. Just need to decided exactly what else I want now.

Me again lol. So it’s been a week since I last tested and did a 50% water change. Only thing that has increase is the nitrates. Looks like my tank has cycled. I’m looking to do 75% water change next and start stocking with fish. :)

21 days since I set tank up. 50% water change today, and these are the readings. So I’ll test again in 7 days and hopefully the only difference should be the nitrates have spiked?

Should I test the water directly after water change?

Yeah, to keep the nitrates down. I’ll hold off from adding any fish for another week to ensure the tank is fully cycling. I’ll test after 7 days, saves wasting the liquid in the test bottles. Thanks King Fisher

Ok makes sense. Should I test daily, or every 3 days?

Ok I’ll do that tomorrow. There’s a chance it might alter then?

So done another water change today... doesn’t smell as bad as it was thankfully. Thanks for the advice and help guys.. I’m still adding small amounts of fish food as an ammonia source.. think I should just try and get some pure ammonia?

Using liquid C02. Using the lights that came with it. 12 Volt, 12 Watt LED-light unit (dimmable) LED: 104x white + 16x blue

Lights are on 13 hours a day. I have plants in there. But they aren’t looking too healthy anymore. Very disheartening it’s putting me off continuing.

Think I’m going to fully clean the tank and start again... it’s smelling awful and getting lots of algae and slime.

. Still no change?

Should I clean the filter in the tank water, or wait until it’s fully cycled?

Next results... tank was really smelling so did 12% water change
