    Fantail Goldfish Off Food

Hi all, I have 3 fantail goldfish, but over the last few days, 1 of them seems to be off its food. I have switched to peas over these last few days, just to see if he is a bit constipated. Water quality is good, nitrate is a bit high (20ppm), but the other thing I was wondering is if he can...

    Gravel Depth

Can I ask people's opinions on the depth of gravel in a goldfish aquarium? I have a Juwel Vision 180 and have just bought 10kg of new gravel. I haven't actually put it in yet, but it just doesn't look very much. I think it will cover the bottom of the tank, but am wondering if I need another...

    Nitrate Levels

At the moment I am doing about a 1/3 water change per week and water parameters are unaffected. I do a 50% water change usually once a month, which I might start doing every week. I have read that some people do 50% or even 90% water changes each week for a goldfish aquarium.

    Nitrate Levels

I thought that was all attached to the filter housing and gravel etc.

Thanks, everything else is spot on, so wanted to make sure if I needed to do anything or not about the nitrates.

Thanks B, Yea they are all very healthy, I am changing about 1/3 of the tank water every week, may be I should do at least half or maybe more?

    Nitrate Levels

Hi all, I have 3 fantail goldfish in my 180 litre tank and all levels are good, but I always have nitrates of between 20-40 ppm. Is this acceptable/normal for a goldfish tank? Thanks.

    Fantail Goldfish

Yea he has always been a bit odd, he used to nose dive into plants so he could wedge himself in-between the leaves so he could sleep! His latest one is to actually manoeuvre himself under the leaves of a plant so he is nearly upside down, so he can sleep without touching the bottom of the aquarium!

    Fantail Goldfish

Hi all, Just to follow up on this thread, shortly after I posted this, I had removed the air curtain/bubbler that spanned the length of the tank and instead went back to my original air stone, which just produces air bubbles in 1 area of the aquarium. Since doing this, Brian seems to be...

    Air Stone / Air Curtain

Evening all! I've always had an air stone in my 180 litre goldfish tank and it helps to keep the surface of the water moving, especially at the other end of the tank, opposite side to filter outlet. I've just replaced my old air curtain with a new one, which produces a lot of very fine...

    Fantail Goldfish

Thanks for the advice, yes I think this is something that he just likes doing! I have asked him to stop, but he doesn't listen! Have looked into duckweed, but will look into the gell foods too.

    Fantail Goldfish

They are approx 15-20cm each, head to tail, but their tails are nearly half their body length. Yes, water always tested, all parameters good.

    Fantail Goldfish

I feed them a mix of sinking pellets, that I soak before feeding them, peas, blood worms.

    Fantail Goldfish

Yea, I'm not sure if to use it on every water change or not.

    Fantail Goldfish

Hi B, Thanks for reply. I haven't had this new aquarium very long, but have been doing between 2 and 4 buckets (12 litre bucket) at the moment. Do you think I should be doing more? I've read some people do 50% or even more. I have got aquarium salt, but only tend to use it now and again. I...

    Fantail Goldfish

Hi all! This is my first post on this forum and wondered if I could call on some of your knowledge. I have 3 fantail goldfish in a 180 litre tank and they are all very healthy, although I do have a slight problem with 1 of them - Brian. Now Brian is a bit of a jerk and seems to like sifting...
