My bettas spawned and now the fry are free swimming! Whoohoo!!! I got babies!!! Yay! I'm so happy! It looks to be about 50ish or so babies!

If you put 5-6 dwarf puffers in a 10 gallon...they would most likey become very territorial and aggresive and wind up killing each other. Otos would be good...and puffers would probably munch on some of the shrimp. 2 would be just right...three might be pushing it....

In our yellow bellied slider tank we keep a few feeder minnows...These minnows came from someone's pond...and have all been healthy until now. One appears to have a white poofy fungus...would a treatment containing methylyne blue be safe for the turtle? Or should I just set up a hospital...

When my tank cracked and flooded the house...i put the survivors in a bucket with two air hoses and a filter...I added an extra dose of stuff that provides extra slime coat and helps with stress...and then prayed....It sounds like you are doing okay...good luck

Arizona is really strict about keeping wildlife as pets...I'm pretty sure that the only water turtles around here that are considered native wildlife are mud turtles and some sort of weird snapping turtle beast.

Its a boy! We took the turtle to the vet today. He is fine except for a vitamin deficiency...he got a vitamin A shot in the butt. The vet said it looks like his claws are worn down..probably from scooting along on the dirt...And it is definitely a boy...last night he stuck his little boy turtle...

I have heard clown loaches get anywhere from 8 inches to a foot. Have you seen cory cats yet? There are different types that vary in size. Albino corys seem popular in LFS and get 2-3 inches. They also have neat personalities and if you get 4-6 they don't hide as much.

I have a canister filter right now...a Cascade....(looks pretty much the same as a fluval) Its for a 50 gal aquarium. I've been looking and right now a bigger filter is a little out of my price range....Could I just add on another cheap HOB filter?

My new one died this morning...he was just...dead....I checked the water and checked him for signs of illness...he was perfect...just not alive anymore. I was able to return him and get another one....I always feel guilty when that happens. Elle...I'm new to loaches...but the seem pretty mild...

I know nothing about pond filters...but I will look around...my 29 gal can have the one in a turtle tank...whoohoo...upgrades all around....He is more active today but his eyes are still closed. The gall of this turtle to get sick on me! How dare he...I feel like crying he has been through so much.

When I cycled my 29 gal I used ammonia...and when I got a bacteria bloom it hit so hard the water smelled horrible and was super cloudy....Its fine. And dont freak out if it stinks a little...Has anyone else noticed that if you have a spike in the cycle...the water smells different?

What about female bettas? They have nice colors and tend to be less aggressive...you could add a few more danios and a couple more corys probably. In my 10 gallon I have 2 female bettas, and six neon tetras. Its better to have a bigger school of other fish with the bettas...in case they do chase...
