Why do corydoras get this RIDICULOUS long fin

Its hilarious, but not every corydoras catfish at my LFS had this super long fin, and it made me wonder "why?". So if anyone could answer that for me id appreciate it! I looked on Google and i couldnt find anything

Fish for a 10G with plants

I would pick cherry shrimp over crystal shrimp if you are new to the hobby, which it seems you may be. Crystal reds have very specific water parameters, rili LOOK like crystal red shrimp, but they are just regular cherry shrimp with paterns

    Crooked baby!?

Thank you sm, but unfortunately i read this too late. He was eaten the day i put him in the tank (i didn't think my cardinal tetras were even big enough, they aren't full adults) i wasnt worried about the special care needed or that he was deformed, i chose him to take him home and give him a...

    Bamboo shrimp bad molt

TL:DR bamboo shrimp lost the foremost section of her right leg during molting, will she die/bleed out? So i recently bought a bamboo shrimp for my 20gallon tall and she has been acting strange. I thought she was just feeling out the tank for a week before she set up shop and started fanning...

Hey, so i set upy tank a little while ago and ive been letting it cycle with live plants and this little guy came over on one of them. I tried to remove him but i ended up pushing him into my substrate, never to see him again. Until now! Could anyone help me identify him? I like the shell and i...

Fed up with fish keeping!!!! [emoji35]

From the picture It looks like most of those plants are real, Do you use CO2 injector? Ive heard horror stories of DIY or even store bought injectors killing fish during the night while the plants are asleep and not filtering the CO2 out of the water as efficiently

    Show off your shrimp tank!

I use an unused "flavor injector" lol its basically a big round syringe with no needle. Moss ball would look great, but i didnt want to take up too much space

    Shrimp lover

Maybe not, but around me orange sunkist is a common name for the orange neocaridina and thats what the lfs listed them as xD . Im not too interested in breeding the orange ones i chose them because the red cherries at the lfs all had that white speckle parasite around their mouths i forget what...

Amano shrimp tank transfer Questions and also check out my shrimp!

The old tank is very stable, and i have put clippings in the gravel substrate yes. My question was would she die sooner than later because i thought she was at the end of her life, but Earthmother told me her amanos are 7 years old! So im going to keep her where she is because that is her home...

Amano shrimp tank transfer Questions and also check out my shrimp!

Oooo nice! "In captivity" said 2-3 years when i looked it up, i was worried. I was just gonna put her in the tank for now, while im still planting it, until she died. Good to know she still has some years left!

    Oh look, another new guy

Hey congrats! I got into the hobby a few years ago when i started working at a local pet store when i discovered FRESH WATER SHRIMP they are tiny, cool, and colorful and move about the tank so well if kept by themselves. Perfect for a 10 gallon, you can have up to 100! And they breed like crazy...

    Newbie

If youre interested in crustaceans check out neocaridina shrimp, they are fresh water and come in a bunch of colors and styles. Theyre real small and you can have up to 10 per gallon but i had an accidental breed operation that got me over 300 shrimps in my 10 gallon planted so the number varies...

    Filter type for Betta?!

A 14L tank would be too small for a hang on back filter with a betta. I have a HOB for my 10 gallon (37.8L) and my betta likes to go into the flow every now and then almost as a game (they are incredibly smart fish). I agree a sponge filter would be best in a tank of that size or less so, but...

Hello everyone, I'm a relatively small tank owner, i own a 10 gallon community tank with an Amano shrimp, 1 zebra danio, 1 red eye tetra, one sparkling gourami, and one betta. It had more, but that have all died as the tank is over 3 years old. I also have a 2.5 gallon planted tank (picture...

    Show off your shrimp tank!

What do you think of my mason jar shrimp tank for a desk at work? Only 3 in there (however i did add a teeny tiny baby in case one died, but they all survived for what is 2 weeks as of posting this) and a ramshorn snail for clean up. Java moss, mermaid weed, and what i was told is giant...
