No I haven’t used any fertilizer - our water starts off with reasonably high nitrates and I assumed that the additional nitrates produced through the cycling process would be more than enough nutrients. Are my assumptions wrong? ?

Thanks for your reply. No - rhizome is carefully glued to lava rock - been this way for 8 months and seemingly very happy until now. No water quality issues.
