    Another planted 20 gallon! (10 pics, 1.83MB)

I took all the crypts out; they were just getting too unruly and I didn't like the look of them in this tank. They're in the 10 gallon now... almost as carpet cover. I used a bunch of the plantlets and planted them close to the substrate. It looks kinda cool.

    Another planted 20 gallon! (10 pics, 1.83MB)

Thanks man. It just wouldn't feel right sticking fry that I raised for three months in a box. LOL I'd feel terrible. A 10 gallon tank is too small for any rainbowfish, anyway... they're pretty active and need room to swim.

    Another planted 20 gallon! (10 pics, 1.83MB)

Time for an update! :) About 4 months ago I started finding Furcata Rainbow fry in my tank: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f82/holy-crap-furcata-rainbow-fry-help-101815.html After finding an ever-increasing number of them, I put together a 10 gallon tank and moved the adults there, and...

Holy crap, furcata rainbow fry! Help!

My filter inlet is well covered by a cylindrical sponge filter and a lot of java moss. I found two more, for a total of 4! :D Here is the father:

    Planted 10 gallon

It's been quite some time since I started this little endeavour... the lighting is fairly low for this tank so everything grows rather slowly. The foreground is micro-sword, which has been slowly filling out nicely. The large piece of driftwood on the right has a few bits of java fern and a...

Holy crap, furcata rainbow fry! Help!

I just picked up some of that, and a quarantine net. I'm hoping a few more show up, but so far it's only the two.

Holy crap, furcata rainbow fry! Help!

I wasn't trying to breed them or anything, but apparently they did... I just spotted two fry in my tank! Help! What do I feed them? I have a very dense portion of the tank full of java moss and other plants (where they are now) so I don't think they will be eaten by other fish.

    Another planted 20 gallon! (10 pics, 1.83MB)

Wow it's been over a year now since my last update to this thread! :) The tank is still doing well, albeit pretty overgrown, so I jumped back into re-scaping mode and am planning out a few changes. Here are a few recent pics with my new camera: Female longfin albino bristlenose pleco...

    Freshwater sump?

I was hoping to increase the water volume not to increase the bioload, but to keep the water specs more easily balanced. I try my best not to cram fish into tanks, as you can see from my signature. I have this 10 gallon tank sitting around and I'd hate to let it go to waste, but I don't plan...

    Freshwater sump?

I see a lot of threads in here about making a sump for SW tanks, but has anyone made one for FW? Here's my situation: I have a 20 gallon tall planted tank with one of those DIY-style CO2 systems. I can only get about 10ppm CO2 from it. I have a spare 10 gallon tank that I'd like to use as a...

more fresh water pics.... and fw only.

Wow a whole school of celestial danios! Are these being bred now? Last I recall, their natural habitat was being raped by all the demand. How big is your tank, too?

    My First Freshwater Aquarium

I may be wrong, but it looks like there's some anaerobic bacteria growing in your sand... you may want to stir up the sand a bit, and add some MTS or Corys. Are those plants real? They look so good, I keep thinking they're fake.

    Very small fish

Nice, the tiny bumblebee gobies look perfect! Only problem is it seems I can't find anyone with experience keeping them. Even a Google search only yields fishbase-type webpages, which help... but I like to see what others have learned when keeping them in captivity, also. So, has anyone kept...
