Nice place to work if you are an aquarium freak !

Don't you think that's a photoshop? Those desks look pretty flimsy to be holding what would have to be a lot of weight. Hard to tell if the details repeat like it's just one tank copied over and over. Cool pic though... would be great if it was real!

    go lemons go!

I always had good luck with lemons too. They looked good/interacted well with my bleeding heart tetra. Both's colors improved dratically when I started feeding them a mix of frozen foods. Yours look great!

Swimmers 175 litre - at long last!

Nice photos and a great tank. Congrats!

! defrost water from the refrigerator !

I think another thing to keep in mind is the small amount that both these source are going to put out. Most freezers are frost-free today, we've had a chest freezer for 15 years and I bet we've never removed even a full bucket of ice. You might do better with an AC unit, but you would have to...

Petco - 5 gal Marineland hex sale

Not sure if this is the best place for this, but I thought the most folks would see it here. Mods of course feel free to move. Anyway... Petco has the 5 gallon Marineland hex aquarium kits on sale for $39.99 ($10 off reg. price), if you have their PALS card. That's the best price I've been...

Using well water instead of tap water

I think you're actually talking about water from a cistern. It's an underground holding tank used to collect rainwater. My grandparents had one in their very old farm house and used it for washing clothes, dish, etc., not for human consumption. If you had it tested, I guess you could use it...

    Overhauled 38-gallon Aquarium

Very, very nice looking tank! Congrats.

    Fish stores

I just wanted to add that there is a new Jack's Aquarium & Pet store in Findlay; I believe that it just opened on Aug. 12. It's in a strip mall at the Rt. 224 exit off of 1-75. Being new, everything looks clean and well kept, but at least the aquariums did look good. They also have a wide...

    Sectioned tank for male Bettas?

I'm thinking of setting up a tank (10 gallonish) with multiple compartments as homes for male bettas. I've seen the dinky plastic things that Penn Plax sells and aren't impressed in the least. I would think the partitions should be perforated for flow of water. I'd also like to have a...

Will my 125 tip over and kill me

I think I would make sure that your landlords fully understand how heavy a filled 125 gallon tank really is and be absolutely sure they approve. You could put down a piece of 3/4" plywood before the stand. That would help even out the carpet and distribute the load over the floor a little.

    Substrate for 'future' planted tank

I'm in the planning stage of a new tank and would like it to be planted... just maybe not right away. Would there be any problem with using Flourite or Eco-complete right from the start with no live plants? Seems like it would be easier to put it in right from the beginning than change over...

    Fish stores

I'll second both Trilby's and Gary's. I haven't bought from either of them yet since I don't have my tank set up yet, but I've seen enough stores to know good from bad. Gary's is only about a mile from my work and I've stopped in a couple times for some free advice. He actually has more...

    Acrylic glue question

I agree with Sicklid and just wanted to add that you should be able to find the fine grit auto sandpaper up to 2000 at Walmart's auto department. I buy it to sharpen woodworking tools like chisels and plane blades.

    Howdy all

I've been looking around this forum for a few days and was so impressed that I couldn't resist joining in on the fun! :D I had quite a bit of experience with aquariums, but none in the last 15 years or so. I've got the bug again thanks to a guy at work that is setting up a 40 gallon. I've...
