How to lower Ph before adding water during a water change?

I didn't think of spring water, and it has the added benefit of not needing to add as much equilibrium. I picked some up today. Thank you! I left a tote of tap water to sit for approximately 16 hours (overnight and during work) and the pH of the water in that tote has dropped to about 8.0. I'm...

How to lower Ph before adding water during a water change?

Question: Is it safe to add vinegar to tap water before adding it to the aquarium? How much is safe? Or else, what are your other recommendations? The situation: We have a community well here and the pH of the water has been changing over time, but usually not much at once. When the aquarium...

How many fish can i keep adding in my tank?

It looks like you'd easily be overstocked by adding to this tank.. If anything, I'd say another ramirezi, they do better in small groups. Also, it isn't recommended to keep shrimp (CRS/RCS) in tanks that run CO2, but I'm not familiar with bamboo shrimp specifically, so I'm not sure if this...

    albino cory after water change

My threestripe corys carry on doing whatever they were doing before. Maybe this is just a difference in species or the individual fishes. In order to disturb the water less though, I do pour the new water either over a large decoration or through a colander.

    Tank water help

Perhaps add a filter that can have a bag of carbon added to it? Otherwise, I suppose you could try putting in a few (depending upon tank size) Fluval or ExoTerra moss balls. They are fake marimo balls that have carbon inside of them, but just like a bag of carbon/cartridges, they will need...

    I love fishes

Hello everyone, I'm new here, but not so new to fishkeeping. I am very interested in aquarium science and continually researching answers to my questions. I also enjoy just sitting and watching the fish, shrimp, and snails. I am most interested in bottom feeder types: corycats, plecos, loaches...
