Post a Video of Your Freshwater Tank!

I posted the link to my youtube video. I believe it should be that simple... if not, I'm sure someone will chime in.

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

So the next million dollar question that popped into my head is... Compared to what I am using now, which is a Coralife CFL 10k 65 Watt, how much more light till the Ray2 and FugeRay provide compared to it? Ok, thanks Farnaby... that makes sense. The Fugeray will sit ontop of my glasstop just...

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

Would I need to take away my glass top for this fixture? I think I read that in one of the AMZN user reviews. And, not to get too sidetracked... but does anyone know if there's a big difference between the Aqueon Versa Glass tops vs. Marineland glass tops? Thanks

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

Rivercats: When I purchase the dry ferts, would I still need to supply Carbon via liquid Excel? Hmm, it's hard to ignore Finnex Ray LED lighting with more than a few recommendations I read elsewhere. My 29 gal is about 30 inches long, thus I found this on AMZN (wasn't too sure if I'm allowed...

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

Thank you both! :thanks: Now I need to investigate T5HO lighting. I'm assuming my algae growth is due to not injecting CO2, though I'm using liquid carbon via Excel. From all the reading here, it seems, some think liquid carbon is a CO2 substitute... I tend not to think it is, though liquid...

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

I've gone through several incarnations of my planted tank over the years, and I've found I always "slack off" because I don't keep up with the fertilizer regimen... usually I just don't want to spend the $$, so the plants slip... algae take over and I'm back to figuring it out... LOL. Anyway...

Using Beneficial Bacteria from one tank to another

I'll transfer in my bacteria-seasoned filter pad, either the night before or day of, when I intend to buy a betta... and maybe a couple of snails for algae, or 2 otos may be pushing it. Thanks.

    ADFs with shrimps...

In a 10 gal, I am considering: 3-4) African Dwarf Frogs with: up to maybe 8) Red Cherry Shrimp, or similar species in size and/or 3-4) Amano Shrimps Couple of Nerite Snails 3) Otos 10 gal planted tank already with hornwort, Amazon Sword, driftwood, a little wisteria. My concerns are with the...

What do you guys think of this little guy?

Not to change topics, but what plant is on the left with the broad leaves? I'm guessing an Anubias Barteri Nana?

Using Beneficial Bacteria from one tank to another

If you're asking about the tank I'm getting the bacteria from... my 29 gal is already cycled and established with plants, driftwood, fish (11 cardinal tetras, 4 male endlers, 4 otos). You gave me a better idea... I'll just use one of the dirty filter pads from my 29gal, xfer it to my 3 gal...

Using Beneficial Bacteria from one tank to another

I stuck a piece of thick filter foam (cut into a 4"x5" rectangle) into the front out-take slot of my HOB filter on my established 29 gal tank with the intentions of populating this filter foam with beneficial bacteria that I can drop on a 3 gallon tank as I just had to clean it out and it'll end...

    Aquatic Dwarf Frogs and Shrimp?

Is it a good idea to mix aquatic dwarf frogs and small shrimp such as Red Cherry Shrimp or larger Japonicas? I have a 10 gal with a few plants and may definitely stock with RCS and been thinking about the dwarf frogs... even if the frogs don't eat RCS, I may keep it as a shrimp species tank so...

    Test Kits - Expiration

I think I know the answer to this... but I have old test kits (PH, nitrate, nitrite, etc.) and they've all expired a few years. Yeah, I've been lucky enough to keep stable tanks and not have to test em for years at this point. And I have a little bit of the pack-rat mentality in my genes... so...

    Secret against algae

I also recommend algae eating fish/inhabitants... SAE's are great and I highly recommend Otos (short for Otocinclus), they are smaller than SAE's. Otos are mentioned in this link, along with SAE's and other great algae eaters: Aquarium Algae Eaters Good luck!

    10g betta community stocking

I also don't recommend Zebra danios to add into that 10gal. My opinion FWIW... I would just get another 3-5 neons especially since they're a schooling fish, the tank will look nice with 6-8 neons. And if you have any algae, then add 2 ottos at most. Good luck and give us an update and/or post...

    My tanks on You Tube

I decided to join the You Tube generation and posted a video showcasing my 10 gallon shrimp tank and 29 gal freshwater community, both planted. No CO2 on either tank, though I upgraded lighting for both tanks and dose otc liquid ferts in my 29 gal. Seems like the only plants that I can keep...
