    Mouthbrooders Sharing

I have two pseudotropheus johanni from the same breeding group holding, and moved them to the same tank to relax a bit and have their babies. But, one day, one of them has a very full mouth and the other not so much. The next day, the second one's mouth looks full and the first one is only...

    Sexing Pundamilia Nyererei

Does anyone know a way to tell which fry will be male? They are just under and inch long, and all of them look kind of female, with greenish yellow fins and some stripes on a gray body:

    Sexing Johanni Fry

Here's an example. Very orange and some stripes are visible. The female adults are yellow but sometimes show brownish stripes.

    Sexing Johanni Fry

My johanni had some fry, and they are all orange/yellow. Some of them have a deeper color and some are orange and showing brownish stripes. Are these darker ones going to turn blue eventually? Or would male fry be blue right from the beginning?

    Dragonblood or Firefish?

I expected them to be dark pink: males, and pale pink: females. But instead there is deeper orange and paler pink. Any idea which ones are the males?

    Dragonblood or Firefish?

I have 5 small dragonbloods, and 3 of them are a deeper orange and two are a paler pink. Would that be male and female difference or different color variations within the same species?

    Saulosi: Male or Female

I bought 8 that were supposed to be female then they all started turning blue when I got home. This has happened to me before. So I vented them and most if not all of them are female, including the big one with dark stripes. There is no male in their tank yet so perhaps a female fills in as...

    Saulosi: Male or Female

I'm finding saulosi to be really tricky to determine the sex. I vented these ones so now I know for sure. But I'd like to hear your guesses:

    Brine Shrimp Eggs Sinking

Hi, I got a Ziss Brine shrimp hatchery, and after using it the first time, there was what looked like unhatched eggs at the bottom. So when I drained the water, I got these eggs along with the live baby brine shrimp. In the videos, other people don't seem to have this problem. Any idea what...

Buffer / Salt for Planted Mbuna Tank

Hi, I have soft water and have a planted mbuna tank. I currently add these two products: API pH 8.2 for pH and KH Seachem Equilibrium for GH Is there a single product I could use instead of two different products? Or some other combination of additives that would be better for some reason...

    Mbuna Planted Tank

I'm converting my planted community tank into an mbuna african cichlid tank. I read about how mbuna and plants don't get along, but I'm not one to heed advice so I just went ahead and added some aragonite sand and some pH 8.2 chemicals and put in the mbuna and removed the other fish to another...

    Apisto Species and sex?

I have a 29high with apistos and golden killifish and some tetras. That is working out really well. The killifish mostly stay at the top and the apistos as the bottom and they seem to get along.

    Apisto Species and sex?

Also in order to make them happier I added tons of leaves and driftwood and used peat to add tannins, and now I can't see them very well. Maybe they are happier but not as much fun for me with all their hiding places :D

    Apisto Species and sex?

They are a lot of fun to watch. They can be aggressive though, I had to move my cories to another tank because the male was harassing them.

    Too Many Snails?

I have a snail infestation in my 20g tank that came in on some plants. I don't mind since they will keep the tank clean, but today when I turned on the light there were probably 40 little snails on the glass, ranging in size from 1mm to 6mm, most of them smaller. Is this something I need to...

This hasn't gone well at all... While trying to catch the mother of the eggs, I noticed that the other female (false) viejita has an injury. The strange thing is that the one with the eggs is a recent addition, the other one that is now injured and in the hospital tank was getting along very...
