    Native tank room mates

Yikes! I did not know that. We let the house get up to even 80 sometimes in the summer, if it’s really hot outside, like close to 90, we don’t like such a big temperature difference when we come in, so we will put the air conditioning on like 79. I will periodically go to the pond where I...

    Native tank room mates

Yea they are beyond aggressive it’s crazy. Also still working out what to feed them. At first it was worms then Minos. They eat flakes but that’s like a person trying to get full one rice grain at a time. Giving them large pellets now but broken. They are At room temp so 69°. Summer they’ll...

    Native tank room mates

Well shoot given that map, probably makes sense to give it a try if we ever get spring. No temps above freezing in the foreseeable future. That means shipping a fish probably isn’t that great either The winters here can be ridiculous. We had snow third week may. Blessed fall/early winter...

    Native tank room mates

Oh, I didn’t realize there was a full two hours between Knoxville and the western North Carolina border! Guess I’ll experience it soon… We are hoping sometime in late March to go down and check out a few of the towns that may work for us, and since we are so close, I would probably add that...

    Native tank room mates

Ahhh! Knoxville or Chattanooga? I am trying to move my family to Knoxville but our Business won’t transfer there easily at all so maybe KY or Greenville Spartanburg instead. Not sure yet - got a few years to choose. That said, as the kid that had to be forced to get out of the creek for...

    Native tank room mates

Where are you located? I didn’t even know they exist, I am in Rochester New York. Wouldn’t know where to even begin to look for them

    Native tank room mates

Wow that is exactly what I need!!! Only thing is, I’m almost 34 and started fishing at 3. Wondering creeks and streaks as a kid was commonplace as well. I’ve. Ever seen one of these! I guess in the spring I’ll try to catch one! If it’s the same size as the sunfish I’m sure they’ll leave it...

    Native tank room mates

Yea it’s an amazing tank! Clown loaches may work if I can find big ones. These fish slurp down 2” rosy reds like nothing. Would hate to see then hammer down loaches! I’d recommend a native tank to anyone but I’d recommend 120+ I have 55 and it’s tough to keep them “happy” (but we do)

    Native tank room mates

Hey all, I've got a great native set up but just pumpkinseeds and bluegills. I'd love to have something in there that cleans up the bottom like a large pleco or something but they eat everything. they have actually nipped my fingers lol. At one point we put a few large crayfish in there.... bad...

    Sponge Filter Questions

Done! Got a "regular style" sponge for 10 gals like the 60 gal units in our 75. Pretty extensive modification was required to make the thing work with a bubble stone, but my gifts are in the area of hotrod fabrication so it was no bother no me. I got my wife one for her 10 gal planted and I am...

    Sponge Filter Questions

Thanks! I actually just ordered a few. Was gonna change out the air stone in our 10 to a sponge. Hoping the ones I bought can fit a stone in them, then I’m way ahead in the ten. But the 5.5... it has a sponge filter only, no HOB. I’m afraid to switch filters that I’ll kill the cycle

    Sponge Filter Questions

Hey all, in my 5.5 I'm having issues with very timid dwarf emerald Rasboras... that is a topic of its own and its likely I will resolve the issue by relocating the hyperactive danios to another tank of ours.... My questions is about the filter... I have a "10 gallon" sponge filter and for a...

Dwarf Emerald Rasboras wont surface to eat

Yes it’s never enough lol Might do a rack of 20 Longs in the basement because why not? Lol They seem very happy in the 5.5 just they are way to fast to eat :-/ the 20long guppy may just be the hone for them. Or the striped in there and the two leopards in the heavily planted 10 I’ll try a...

Dwarf Emerald Rasboras wont surface to eat

Dwarf Emerald Rasboras wont surface to eat

Crap :( well the pet store I got them from will sure let take them back but that sucks. The leopards especially - very pretty fish. No way to get the emeralds to eat? And yikes I better figure this out soon :-/

Dwarf Emerald Rasboras wont surface to eat

Hey all REALLY struggling with the school of dwarf emerald rasboras in my nano tank. there are Danios as well and they (the danios) eat just fine but the rasboras simply will NOT surface to eat, anything that sinks, the danios beat them to it. They tend to hide in one corner and its been that...

    Fluval g3 questions

Thanks! Just a gentle tumble in a stainless mixing bowl of aquarium water? That was my plan but quite unsure. We’re having a random nitrite issue and it’s caused to examine all of our practices. Everyone is ok:normal except our pigeon blood discus “pinkie pie” as she was affectionately named by...

    5.5 with 3 danios. Now what :-/

I’ve considered that it’s on the smaller side. Being the 6 are so small and I’ll be doing weekly water changes, I’m not too worried. Strangely a 5 is only a few inches smaller in each direction. My big worry at this point is if the “10 gallon” sponge filter is enough, and also if so, are it’s...

    Fluval g3 questions

Hello! So for our 75 gallon discus tank, it came with a fluval g3. I rinse off the mechanical filter every 7 days, every month I clean the filament that is in the chemical cup(not running carbon) but I have not, in the 3 months we’ve owed it, touched the g-node bio stones. What’s good practice...

    5.5 with 3 danios. Now what :-/

Well I did a bunch of research / was hoping to hear from some people here but the tank is currently 3 dwarf emerald rasboras and 3 danios: 2 leopard and 1 zebra. There is a shrimp (blue cherry) that doesn’t seem to be doing to well sadly, and a nerite snail. Anubias, java fern, java moss, and...

    5.5 with 3 danios. Now what :-/

Hey all! Set up a 5.5 in my office because pretty much every room in my house has one, making the office kind of suck. It’s a pretty tank. Lightly planted with an Anubias hostifolia, java fern and java moss. Hornwart coming. Oh and frogbit up top with a hone made feeding ring. Running a 10gal...
