Percula being rough on the anemone?

Yes, in captivity clownfish can harass anemone's until death, usually causing enough physical damage that the anemone either hides in darkness, starves due to excess shriveling, and/or bacterial infections.

    Shark tank?

The only suitable shark species would be of the Eppaulettes, which actually prefer rockwork. Unfortunately, the majority of your benthic elasmos prefer to go un-noticed so don't expect to see them often until feeding. Rays require just as much care and unless you are well versed in their...

    Dips?

Fyi, you can also use Revive by TwoLittleFishies for various coral species and fish usually receive either freshwater baths or Formalin baths depending on tolerances.

    Smallest species of moray eel?

Seriously, just get a typical snowflake or golden dwarf (Gymnothorax melatremus) or a white ribbon eel (Pseudechidna brummeri). These will remain relatively small and peaceful. Green moray (Gymnothorax funebris) are powerful, large, and voracious...don't bother (need at least a 500g+). Dragon...

    Albino Pacu

ask a retailer to order one from their wholesaler, they are available. By the way, pacu get large and not recommended for home aquaria or even business aquaria really.

How do companys get away with robbing us?!

You prob don't realize how common 100% markups are and up to 500% in many instances around the entire aquatic industry (if you saw the wholesale price you'd prob need a clean pair of shorts) ;) . It's not robbery if the customer is willing to pay for what they want (bad business as a customer to...

practicing how to quaratine fish successfully

Most fish from lfs, if not all, have had exposure to other sick fish from being in the same system. You can assume virtually any fish purchase, especially in groups, will be contaminated. FW qt is rather simple since most diseases/parasites can be rid through salt additions from 2ppt-5ppt...

    quarentine question

Most fish will continue to consume food until systemic infection, of which the infestation is overwhelming to recover. So yes, they can still act quite normally for a while. Keep a close eye on it, but ich can visibly be seen as raised "bumps" or appearance of salt raised upon the outer skin...

    Blue tang got ich, advice?

If you feel no other option permits and only plan fish-only you can treat in-tank (copper can be diffucult to treat/rid as sandbeds and liverock "soak it in." Formalin is another route in QT.

    Ich fix

Formalin can also be used via QT, Short-term bath: .08ml/g and Long-term: .6ml/g

Doing laundry...filter socks, there has to be something better.

We run filter socks religiously at work and feel they filter particulates quite well, but we also tend to stock heavily. They need to be replaced weely (I use a single sock for each 550g) and can extend the life by a few days if using a hose to spray inside out until semi white. We normally soak...

    Stop Trademark Bullying- Petition

In all honesty, if I knew nothing of the monsterfishkeepers site and was searching for Monster energy drinks, I could understand the confusion of logo infringment (even though the entities are different). I think it's a bit much to ask not to consume their products just because they want them to...

How many people here treat for disease in a qt?

The question is are you willing to set one up? All you need is a 20g (High), maybe a heater (50w would do the trick unless you keep the house cold) and pvc for hiding. If not, you could either use 5g bucket for Formalin bath and aggressive water changes (gravel vacs) or take a risk and hypo the...

How many people here treat for disease in a qt?

A quarantine is containment for treatment (biologically or chemically). If you are not treating the animal then the containment is nothing more than a holding tank and shouldn't be confused otherwise :) Most consumers won't understand nor even care as to the purpose of QT, they just want what...

    sea horse breeding

I would have the primary breeding adults in your main display tank and at least two 20g tanks for offspring. The initial fry will be rather pelagic and need circular water flow for optimal results, but will eventual hook in the coming days-weeks (just depends). The fry will also probably need a...

    Jawfish behavior.....

I find that if a jawfish is hidden in a corner above ground it is being harrassed and no longer comfortable at its location. Any other jawfish in the tank by chance (they can be territorial)?

    sea horse breeding

Usually hippocampus erectus or reidi. Have several 20g's for separate growth stages and for fry-juvy you can divide a 20g (circular water flow always seems to work best for fry-juvy). you'll also need 24-72 hr nauplii stages for feeding progressions :) ....just a very quick rundown.

As long as they are cohabitating without creating wounds you should be ok. Make sure to add various pvc for hiding.

    Blue spotted stingray?

A single ray would need a 500g that is long/wide vs. tall and 1000g+ for two for comfortability (the more room the merrier). Shrimp, marine fish, crab meat, and squid usually suffice. Be aware they are picky eaters when juvenile and can be enticed by live blackworms or earthworms, but they may...

    Ant infestation in home!

I use Combat ant or roach gels and they work dreamy, about the same as what is used by professional exterminators where traditional baits, sprays, or foggers can't be used.

Ethical Question Time: Wild Caught or Captive Breed?

^^^One of the primary reasons we don't see captive breeding on such a grand scale...money talks. Even such ventures overseas involving fish/amphib culturing can and is obstructed by unwillingness for whatever reasons, government-wise down to local inhabitants.
