    Filter Help

I watched the video but it says that the filter does not create much flow in the water only a localised current. That is not what is happening in my tank, though after watching that i have no idea why.

To be honest, im not sure.

    Filter Help

I have a strange question, I am unsure if anyone has had this issue before. It appears that my filter is causing a current in my fish tank that is sausing my neons to struggle a little when swimming against it. It does'nt matter where i aim the filter, there always seems to be a current in...

    Fishless Cycle

Yeah I did notice that some of their prices are quite high. I am limited to the 2 stores though without a car so if PaH don't get any neons in then i will have to get them from Maidenhead.

    Fishless Cycle

Pets at Home sadly haven't had any neons in for a while, hence going to Maidenhead lol. There's £5 difference in price for 6 so it isn't too bad.

    Fishless Cycle

Thanks. I don't drive unfortunately. So unless i can talk my neighbour into taking me one day i will have to settle for Maidenhead Aquatics lol

    Fishless Cycle

Where is the best place to get ph information for specific fish from? I have been researching and everything i have read says that neons are ok in ph between 6.8 and 7.8 and platys are ok in ph between 7.0 and 8.0.

    Fishless Cycle

I am planning on adding 6 neons then waiting a bit then adding 6 platys then will be adding 3-4 otocinclus once algae is sufficient for them

    Fishless Cycle

So i checked my ammonia and nitrates yesterday and i was still showing nitrites 0.25ppm. So i redosed ammonia and waited to test again today. My ammonia and nitrites are both showing 0, tested for nitrates and it is at 40ppm. So its looking like my cycle has finally finished. My query is...

    Fishless Cycle

So i tested yesterday and i still had nitrites showing so i added a little ammonia as it had been 2 days since i dosed the tank and i didnt want the bacteria to die. I tested again today and both ammonia and nitrites at 0, checked nitrate and its at 20ppm. So i have added more ammonia and will...

    Fishless Cycle

Nitrite levels are reading either 2 or 5 the colours are really close, i would guess at 5.

    Fishless Cycle

While i am waitin g for my nitrites to start dropping and creating nitrates, do i still have to dose ammonia every day? I have read some articles that state that you shouldnt do it everyday as you can create too much nitrite while the bacteria is growing to turn it to nitrate. What would you...

    Ammonia not reducing

so I just took around 4.5 - 5 litres of water out of my tank and scraped some of the algae off using the end of the gravel cleaner while emptying water. I have finally managed to waterlog the driftwood enough to place it in the tank (pic at the end). Would you advise testing water parameters...

    Ammonia not reducing

Would cleaning the diatoms off the rocks not disturb any bacteria that is potentially growing on them?

    Ammonia not reducing

Thanks I don't plan on taking them out lol, im still trying to get the driftwood to stay sunk enough to put it in the tank and then decor done lol. Another question if you don't mind. I have read various posts regarding water changes and adding dechlorinator. Is it best to add the...

    Ammonia not reducing

Apparantly the ocean rock raises ph etc, i didnt know that when i bought it lol

    Ammonia not reducing

Yeah my previous water test are from the tap, it seems to change after being in the tank and adding dechlorinator. I will run another tap test incase the water has changed as i know in this area they can change sources. The test strips state Carbonate Hardness (KH) dH and General Hardness (GH)...

    Ammonia not reducing

So i do have test strips left, the results are: PH - 7.2 KH - 3-6 GH - 7-14 Nitrate - 100mg Nitrate - 10mg I know they are not too reliable as the kh and gh were half one colour half the next lol, but i have liquid tests for them so will get more accurate ones later. I have also enclosed...

    Ammonia not reducing

So i dosed another 2.5ml ammonia yesterday (29th) and tested after half hour to check level and ammonia was at 2ppm. I have just tested ammonia again tonight and it is at 0ppm. So the ammonia is dissappearing within 24hrs. This seems to be happening too quickly as it is only the 3rd time of...

    Ammonia not reducing

Thanks I knew it not near cycled but i wasnt sure if i would see nitrite that quickly. especially when i have a few plants in the tank that i assumed consume ammonia and nitrite

    Ammonia not reducing

Unexpected So i am doing fishless cycle, no bacteria and no seeding material with live plants in tank. I figured i would test every 3-4 days for the ammonia to come down, I know it takes a while without live bacteria or seeding material. I tested my water on the 23rd and my ammonia was at...

    Ammonia not reducing

Thanks, it is a fresh water tank. I shall just test every few days until it starts to dip. I dont mind it taking a while

    Ammonia not reducing

Hi, Its been 4 days since i put ammonia into my tank and it is still sat at 4ppm. Is it normal that it hasnt reduced at all yet? Thanks

    Adding Ammonia (Fishless cycle)

I tested the water before i dosed it and the ammonia was at 0.5ppm, not sure where it came from as it was at 0 a week ago.

    Adding Ammonia (Fishless cycle)
