    Strange insect-like critter

I haven't been able to find it since that one day when I posted this. It's either hiding in the plant or in the rocks. I was going to do a water change the other day, but forgot to bring everything with me to work. I am going to do one on Monday. Maybe I'll be able to find it at that time. I'll...

    Strange insect-like critter

Oh great. Now I'm worried about it being in my tank. haha I hope it doesn't bother my betta. I haven't been able to find it yet. The little thing is almost completely transparent. I have to do a water change tomorrow. Hopefully I will suck it up then I won't have to worry about it. Thanks again :)

    Strange insect-like critter

OH! That's it! It looks just like that nymph of a damselfly. If I can find the silly thing again, I'll remove it. It's so hard to see in my tank. Those things grow in water? And I wonder how it got there. It must have been stuck to the plant I just got. So weird. Thank you everyone for all your...

    Always dead?

I'm fron the NW part of Houston, but currently live in the Heights. I used to work in the Woodlands, so I'm familiar with the area. I suppose it's my turn to apologize for taking so long to respond. I haven't been checking this forum because I haven't had any fish issues. haha

    Strange insect-like critter

If it's a flea, it's awfully large and it doesn't look like one. It's small in comparison to a fish. But large in comparison to a flea. I've had water fleas before. It looks nothing like it. It literally looks like a cricket. Very strange. And of course now I can't find it because it's almost...

    Strange insect-like critter

I was watching my betta in his 2.5 gallon tank and I noticed this almost transparent thing at the bottom. At first I thought it was some debris off of the plant. Upon further inspection I noticed this thing is alive! It has 2 antlers and 6 legs. The legs are bent like a cricket or spider. It's...

    Little Black Bugs

I just noticed these little black bugs at the bottom of my beta's fish tank this morning. They weren't there on Friday. I didn't work yesterday so these little things appeared sometime within the last 3 days. Does anyone have any idea what they are and if they are harmful? What should I do to...

Well, I'm not in your area, but I do have an interest in aquariums. Does that count? haha

    Always dead?

Is this place always so quiet? As large as the state of Texas is you would think there would be more aquarium enthusiasts that would post in here. Let's get this party started! Wooo Hooo! Sorry, I had some caffeine this morning...

    Algae on Beta Fins

I came in this morning and he doesn't have the green stuff on all of his fins like he did yesterday. He has it on one fin only. So I guess the stuff is falling off. It doesn't seem to bother him. He still has a huge bubble nest going at the top. Thanks for your advice. I'll start doing 50% water...

    Algae on Beta Fins

I have a male beta in a 2.5 gallon tank. The only thing in it is a heater. he seems very happy in the tank. He creates bubble nests that that cover the whole tank at the top. I noticed about 4 days ago that he had this bright green on the tips of his fins. I realized it was algae from one of the...

New fish added to the 55 gallon

I had one puffer in my 10 gallon with some community fish and she pestered them all the time. I finally got her a tank of her own and took her out. Then I went and got another dwarf puffer to go with her. That one ended up being a male. They seem to get along just fine. They don't bother each...

how often do i feed snails to dwarf puffers ?

I have 2 dwarf puffers and I feed them frozen blood worms. The squares are too large for them so I cut a portion of it and thaw it in their tank water. I use a dropper to feed it to them. I give my puffers snails as a treat about once every couple of weeks. They seem to really like the frozen...

Looking for a good fish store in northwest houston/cypress

I can see no one has used this form in a while, so I hope it's still being checked. There is a store called Fish Gallery off of 59 and Kirby. It's actually on the service road going towards Sugarland right before the Kirby light. I know it's not on the Northwest side of town, but that store is...

    Cloudy Water

So far the water changes haven't helped. I've had this new filter in for over a month. I have still been doing a small water change every couple of days. It's still cloudy. I keep thinking that it's clearing up a little bit each time, but then I look again later or the next day and it doesn't...

    Cloudy Water

No, I haven't been cleaning the filter a lot. I did switch filters out compeltely. Put in a whole new one. But that was about 2 weeks after the cloudiness began in the first place. The filter I had in there was really old and it was time for a new one anyway. I didn't kow if this new filter...

    Cloudy Water

I know this topic has been in the forum many times and believe me, I have read majority of them. I've followed the different suggestions and it hasn't helped much. The problem started about 3 months ago when I did a 50% water change. I did this because I had 3 fish die on me within a 2 week...

    Parasite?

I took it to the store and the guy there said it's a Water Worm. He has no idea how it got in the tank. He said they get them every once in a while in their tanks, but not that often. It's apparently not harmful to the fish or plants. It will even eat some of the algae off the side but not that...

    Dwarf Puffer Fish

I think the larger puffer fish, such as the Green Spotted Puffer and Figure 8 Puffer are more of a brackish water type fish. The Dwarf Puffers are fine in freshwater. At least the two that I have are. They are doing great. Getting nice and fat.

    Parasite?

I found a strange looking parasite (I think that's what it is) in my 2.5 gallon tank. It is hard for me to explain, but it has a sucker for a mouth. When it's stretched out, it looks like a thin worm. I would say it's about half an inch long when stretched out. It rolled into a ball when I was...
  24. This is Betty my newest betta. The first female that I've ever owned. I thought her coloring was pretty.
