    Bi Color Angel Questions

If you have enough zoos who cares if he eats them, right? That's the whole trick. Odds are, he's going to bite your corals tho. Beautiful fish but meant for the ocean/fishonly/big *** tanks.

    Bi Color Angel Questions

ah i guess he means the fuge has a much better at keeping water quality pristine for this fish. I know my friend had one for about a week. It broke out in Ich and died promptly. After eating his zoos. Lol. Amazingly pretty fish though. It has that large angel look contained in a dwarf angel.

Is Metal Halide system the only way possible to get the "glistering look"?

sounds good. I have 14 K, it is a little bluer. You can google it and see pics of bulb comparisons; not only k rating but different brands look different. make sure you are getting good water surface agitation. That is what gives it the shimmer looks as well. Point a powerhead up at the...

Is Metal Halide system the only way possible to get the "glistering look"?

hmm they don't? T5 is newer technology than PCs. I have an aquactinics 48" 2x250w MH and 2x54w T5 lamps with 2 LED moonlights and its awesome. Very pleased.

    PBT not eating

hmm. i'm going to look for that stuff in my asian mart. Could use a new variety of algae growing in the fuge. Tangs don't eat caluerpa or chaeto.

    Feeding Feather Dusters

i would feed as there are definite advantages, but as melosu said, don't overdo it. A little goes a long way.

    Bi Color Angel Questions

I don't see why you heard you need a refugium. This fish does not eat copepods. This is a fish that will absolutely eat your zooanthids and nip at corals. That is the thing to consider. If you are building a fish only system, this fish needs lots of live rock to feel "at home". No refugium...

    Is it ok?

bacteria in a bottle is lame. A better strategy is to buy cured live rock from all sorts of different regions (Fiji, Tonga, etc.) to sample all different kinds of microorganisms in your tank.

    Leather Coral

the polyps extend to feed and take in light. during the night time, they conserve energy, so they draw polyps in and such "sleeping" behaviors. Some corals extend feeders during the night after extending light gathering polyps during the day. An example of this would be a trumpet or candy...

    should I get this?

15 gallon nano tank you should make or buy an automatic top off system. Salt levels fluctuate too much via evaporation on tanks of that size.

    Bichir covered with worms?

you want to keep him well fed to make sure his immune system has the best chance of healing him. Don't cut feeding, he needs more food than ever because the parasites are stealing sustenance from him. Use garlic on your food as well. Garlic extract drops boost immune function. I don't know...

Is Metal Halide system the only way possible to get the "glistering look"?

i don't think it is overkill if you want to keep SPS corals. I wouldn't use PC for actinic supplementation, I would use T5. More efficient and much less heat. With this kind of firepower, though, you may need to also include a chiller in your system to keep from temperatures getting too...

Can I use this bulb in my refugium?

i like to leave uncovered for the gas exchange but yeah that light doesn't even get hot to the touch. You could do that.

Can I use this bulb in my refugium?

yeah man, its perfect, cost barely anything. got the idea from here. works PERFECT. My fuge is a swamp and my nitrates are zero with minimal water changes. Perfect. Melevsreef.com - Refugium Bulb looks like the floodlight one on the left, perfect for what you need.

Can I use this bulb in my refugium?

Is Metal Halide system the only way possible to get the "glistering look"?

the "shimmer effect" comes from the light being directed "from a single point" (single point light). This effect can't be achieved with fluorescents, only with MH or LED's which also are single point light.

    Live Rock Cured Or NOT?

cured means the rock hasn't been left out of water for a time, causing the creatures on it to die, causing ammonia. If you are running it from down the block it is not going to suffer any die off.

    Power heads

get the vortech. I am LOVINGG it. Mp40w. 400 bucks though.... but it's the only powerhead you need. I hate looking at powerheads.

    Bristle Worms

in my opinion, those worms get worked over pretty good by any wrasse type fish you stock in your tank. Of course, then there are the horror stories with some guys who have had to call in Steve Irwin to wrangle an anaconda sized worm like 4 feet long out of their tanks after losing whole coral...

    Calcium too high?

as thincat says, the 600 calcium isnt harmful to your livestock, but it WILL upset the ionic balance of the water. Explianing it further than that would require more chemistry than I remember from High school, but the result is your calcium and alkalinity levels affect each other and can cause...

    fishneedit.com

i have a fishneedit light. had it for a long time now and it still works good. It isn't the best light in the world but on a 30 Gallon, i have a 36" T5 4x39w fixture, like 2 years old now. Doesn't have individual reflectors, just one parabolic reflector. that is the downfall of it...
