You just did'nt acclimatize the fish so that they could go from RO to fresh water. There is a big differance from RO and normal water and they probably died from shock. if you have fresh water your LFS should have explained the differance from RO to freshwater.

Hi there, your female is at spawning size, but it does not meen she is ready to yet. you must give her somewhere to lay her eggs ideally a flower pot or a little cave, but it has to be big enough for the male to get in and fertilize the eggs. good luck

if you can create the right enviroment for the fish you will breed it. if you cant you wont, it is as simple as that.

You will probably find that when your barbs scattered there eggs they fell to the subsrate and they were pulled down under the gravel to the plate, and the eggs hatched there. I had this happen to me once with some Danio's.
