    snails

ok, thank... yes, I heard they get big, the tank I was considering getting them for is 135 gallons - I also heard they like to be in groups of at least 3... I wonder if anyone else has had experience putting Clown Loaches with other cichlids... I should post that in a different section.... thanks.

    snails

Thanks, when you say "loaches" are you refering to clown loaches? I've been wanting to get some - I've seen where people have had them successfully with Frontosa... which is the tank I was going to put them in. If clown loaches will work with my community fish, I could buy some, then when the...

    snails

Hi, Maybe this question should be posted somewhere else, or has already been asked... What's the best way to get rid of pesty little snails that have COMPLETELY overtaken my 55 gallon community tank... Are there snail killer chemical that anyone recommends... I rarely put medicines in my tank...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

Thanks!! I somewhat threw that tank together, as the guy with the labs was coming to town the next few days and was going to deliver them to me - and those are just some plants I had laying around - i had every intention of just leaving them in there - but I think I'll go pick up some longer...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

a couple more... Progress is slow but sure - I finally purchased my first African Cichlids - Electric Yellow Labs from a local breeder - so there's 8 fish on that whole stand... almost 100 gallons of water - I think I want to put a few Peacocks in the 46 bow front - I keep changing my mind...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

Overkill... Thanks, I'm known for "overkill" - I build things 10 times stronger than they need to be - you should see the supports I put under our deck - that deck could survive any hurricane, tornado, or earthquake all at the same time:rolleyes: After seeing more of people's plans on line I...

    180g canopy

sweet You have great craftsmanship - the canopy really looks great - you're neighbors are lucky to have you next door. I'll be interested to see it sitting on the tank.

    your opinions please

Wow... Wow... How frustrating - I "bookmarked" your thread several days ago because I liked your idea and don't have my 100+ gallon tank yet (and may not have for a few years... who knows)... but really enjoy DIY projects and thought you did an outstanding job on this one... 100+ hours of work...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

More Progress Getting the tank stand into the house wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be... but finding money to get these tanks up and running seems to be the biggest complication. Most everything in the bow front tank was purchased from Menards or Home Depot - sand blasting sand and...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

Thanks! Thanks for the positive comments ! ! ! It has been a fun project. I got it painted yesterday - the tanks fit on it just fine - the bow part matches up perfect to the tank - which it should, I used the tank to trace it directly on the wood. My biggest worry is getting up the front...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

so far here is what I have... Well, This is my busiest time of the year at work, so my project is moving forward slowly. I've already got the tanks, and even the decorations, and most of the filtration equipment, heaters, light, etc... I even know what species of fish will go into each...

    29-gallon Stand

I've built my own stands... I do enjoy building things - I too purchased almost all of my tanks from craigslist...;) If you keep your eye open, there are some very good deals out there.. A 29 gallon won't be too heavy, but I found some good plans on-line by just "googling" aquarium stand...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

Sorry about the poor quality of the sketches... I always draw a pencil sketch out before building something - I'm by no means a carpenter, but I do build a lot of small project type things... I had a guy at work scan it for me since I don't have a scanner... that's the best he came up with...

new tank stand - kinda long, sorry...

I just purchased two used tanks and want to incorporate the 55 gallon that is already in the location I'm planning to build this stand. The two new/used tanks are a 29 gallon and a 46 gallon bow front. I did some crawling around in the crawl space below the room this will be located. There...

    Ich

thought they were crazy... I wondered if they were serious at first... what, raise the temp by 10 degrees, that'll kill my fish - are they just kidding?? But I've seen it elsewhere, now have first hand experience with it - just remember to raise it slowly - only a degree or two ever 6...

    Ich

I know what you mean. I've had fish aquariums for 20 years, and have always used some chemical treatment to get rid of ich the few times I've had to deal with it... I read on this forum something about turning up the temp to 88 degrees, and low and behold, my tank got ich a couple of weeks...

    More new stuff...

I need to be stopped... Since buying our house a year ago, we went from one 20 gallon long tank to two 55 gallons and 2 30 gallons - plus the 20 is still up and running (only has gold fish from our backyard pond for the winter). Today I found a 46 gallon bow front and a 29 gallon tank on...

    CopperSafe By Mardel For Ich?

I'd go with turning the heat up - I just had ich on a few fish in my 55... raised the temp to 88 degrees F, the next day I saw fewer spots on the fish... a few days later I saw no spots - I still have the tank set to 88 degrees F because of advice I learned here - I want all to be gone, as well...

    help! sick angelfish

would amonia poisoning look like that? I had a similar looking red spot on the gills of two of my angle fish - both have since died... I had checked the amonia level, was getting a 0.5 read, did water changes every day and decided they probably died of amonia poisoning... could that be a reason?

    Thinking about dwarf pufferfish

another funny cute thing they do... I have a 5 or 6 inch air stone under the grave... its at the back of the tank... the puffers swim like heck agains the current of the bubbles straight down to the bottom of the tank, then stop just letting themselves fly to the top of the tank with the bubble...

    Thinking about dwarf pufferfish

I LOVE my puffers... I set up a 30 gallon with dwarf puffers - they are SO FUN to watch. They come up to the glass when I put my face up to the tank and stare at me. They'll chase each other, so I recommend a lot of hiding places and plants to block their view. They do "claim" their own places...

I think my angel has columnaris

Thanks Zags... The Mollies in the 55 are doing great, the white spots are fewer. The tank has been at about 88 degrees since I went to bed last night - I'll leave it that way for a while, the fish are more active than I thought they'd be, I thought maybe with the increased temperature, they'd...

I think my angel has columnaris

He's been sitting at the bottom, within the plant or way at the top. He swims crooked and was easily pushed to the top of the tank horzontially when he swam past the bubbler stone. I noticed white fluff looking stuff around his mouth and whitish blotches on his sides... It'snot ich. He's a...
