    Sick betta...bloated and ich again?

I buried him in a little spot near the ocean. On the way back to the car, my hubby found a $20 bill laying on the ground...so Corwin got us a free lunch :)

    Sick betta...bloated and ich again?

alright, so he doesn't have ich. he has some body fungus and dropsy. i know dropsy is usually fatal. i did raise the temp and add epsom salt to the tank...do you think i should isolate him from the other fish? is dropsy painful? is he suffering? should i put him down? i can't believe he's...

    Sick betta...bloated and ich again?

He's still alive this morning, but barely, and his eyes are starting to cloud over. I know it's silly for me to be this sad about a fish, but you know, he's my first ever fish and after I got him I just fell in love with this hobby. I've read about the best way to dispose of fish when they...

    Sick betta...bloated and ich again?

he's not gonna make it. he's barely breathing now, just laying in his moss near the top. he won't eat or flare. I'm so sad. I hope he's not suffering too much. The bloating just won't go down, no matter what I try. :(

    Sick betta...bloated and ich again?

Thanks Deb. so you feel feel sure that it is ich after seeing the pics and not anything esle? I find it strange that none of the other fish are showing any signs of ich or disease at all. Also, Corwin is probably about 2 years old by now. what's the typical life span?

    Please ID

You know, I didn't think I did. I've never seen any before and I've been careful to try not to introduce them with plants. But you never know, maybe some came in on plants. Funny enough, about an hour after I took these pics, I went to look at the tank and they had all disappeared! Maybe...

Anyone know what this is? I count about 15 on the glass, various sizes, some as small as a pin head. I can see movement very very slightly at times.

    white spot on eye

so I decided to email the folks at wetwebmedia. Here's the response: Now, do fish get cataracts? If we simply mean, can the clear parts of the eye get damaged or turn opaque, then the answer is yes. There are two main reasons. The first is physical damage. If a fish bumps into something, or...

    white spot on eye

The spots have not changed since their first appearance over a week ago. There's nothing moving, no swelling or redness. I guess I'll just keep an eye on them. Fish don't get cataracts do they? Does this look like the beginning of blindness? Maybe there's too much light in the tank...

    white spot on eye

no, it doesn't look like ich. the ottos are completely fine, no white spots. i'm not sure if it's a parasite...would a parasite only affect one spot on each eye? i was wondering if it could be some sort of bacterial infection? if so, would turning up the heat make it worse??

    white spot on eye

My betta has one white spot on each eye. Been there about a week, unchanged. The spots are opaque and on the lower half of the eye. His eyes are not cloudy and the spots are defined, looking like they are sitting on top of the lens of his eye. The spot on the left eye is smaller than the one...

    maracyn and parasite clear together?

Point taken, Bill, and thanks for the info. My water parameters are fine, I do a 20% PWC weekly and everything seems stable. So without having a culture, any thoughts on my fish?

    maracyn and parasite clear together?

yes, it's my betta. it looked like what i thought was the start of columnaris, and I believe Maracyn I is an effective treatment. I know I should have observed more thoroughly before treating, but hindsight is 20/20. (Please, no lectures about treating without knowing the illness. I know I...

    maracyn and parasite clear together?

anyone know if one can use maracyn I and parasite clear at the same time? I did only one dose of maracyn today on the 10 gallon, but after observing even more I see my fish rubbing against the tank, so probably a parasite. should I use carbon to get rid of the maracyn before using the parasite...
